Recommend me decent free e-books, please!

We are going on holiday tomorrow & I would like to load up my Kindle with a few decent books.

Can anybody recommend anything that is good & is also free please? I like mostly modern fiction, but also some crime. Recent books I have enjoyed have included Eleanor Oliphant, Girl on a Train, The Tattooist of Auschwitz, to name but a few.

Thanks in advance!

I haven’t had much luck with free ebooks through things like the Kindle store, although sometimes they’ve got interesting books cheaply on the daily / monthly deals.

If you’re a library member have you looked into library ebooks?

My local library lets members borrow up to 6 ebooks at a time, there’s quite a good selection of ebooks available. And they’re free to borrow.

Little pink pill was free a while ago. You can join Kindle unlimited for a free month and download 12 books. Just cancel before first payment

I'll have a look into Kindle Unlimited, thank you.

Unfortunately, with my local library you can't get e-books in Kindle format because of costs to the library. Otherwise that would indeed be the best solution!

I've found a couple on Kindle Unlimited, but ironically the choice (of free books at least) seems to be rather limited Hmm I may pop to the village library tomorrow morning & borrow a couple of physical books, I work there & have seen loads I like the look of. If I reshuffle things a bit I should find room in my suitcase for them.
