Toddler fishy mucus sorry TMI

Sorry this is completely disgusting but every few weeks or so my three year old ds gets diarrhea that is almost entirely mucus and stinks of fish. It seems to have no correlation to anything he eats and he is fine in himself.

Generally his poos are always mushy to loose and grainy, and it's normal for him to go 3-4 times a day which seems excessive to me. GP has shrugged at me but the fishy mucus in particular doesn't seem right. Any experiences?

Could he maybe have allergies? My daughter is allergic to dairy and eggs and the last time we tried the ladder her poop was really mucousy.

Also not fishy but before I cut the allergens out of my diet when I was breastfeeding it was more like sour chicken 🤢

There is a genetic disorder that can make bodily odours smell of fish when certain foods are consumed, fish is one but others are dairy, nuts, certain veg

trimethylaminurua (I think that’s how it’s spelt)
Might be worth a google to see if it’s fits but from a friends experience it’s not widely known about

It can often be a symptom similar to IBS, and triggered by too much fibre. DS had it when I went overboard with chia seeds, fibre supplements etc trying to make him poo more often Blush
