Do I need to be concerned?

I’ve had the contraceptive implant for 18 months. After 18 months of no periods I’ve started having brown discharge almost like a mini period twice a month. Does this mean the implant effectiveness is wearing of?

Off, sorry. Basically do I need to see GP?

How long is it supposed to last? I can't recall?

3 years & I know irregular bleed can be a side effect but it just seems odd I would be fine until now

It's maybe worth popping in to your GP?

They last two to three years. The 'fluffier' you are the more frequently you'll need them replacing.

FWIW I got no periods on my first one. My second one was a disaster all round and this my third is just as bad. Some months nothing. Some months I bleed lightly all month. I'm getting it out and going back to Depo methinks.

I’m really slim, just under 6st. (Having said that I’m not even 5 ft). I’m just surprised that after months and months of no bleeding there is light bleeding now. I don’t mind it and it’s not enough to make me want it removed. I just want to be sure that’s what’s causing it. (Part of the problem is I have health anxiety so my brain immediately jumps to cancer).

I am on my 4th I think. I always get random very light periods, becoming more regular when the three years is coming up. I'm usually very fertile but haven't got pregnant on it.

@BigGreyCloud I hear ya. I have so many health problems that when a new sign/symptom appears I am like arrrrgh Blush
