Has anyone had significant weight gain while on the Depo injection?

I knew I'd gained weighed so got weighed today and since being put on the injection a year ago I've gained 2 stone!!

I'm coming off it now and starting a weight loss regime but just wondered if anyone else had had weight gain with it?

Look of the draw really .some it suits ,some not.
I was on it for 10 years .didnt put any weight on ..but was fat anyway.so....got pregnant within a couple of months of coming of it..only stopped having it because the nurse would jam it in my thigh hard leaving a bruise ..and I got sick of her trying to get me on the scales...but nurse aside it was a good contraception for me

To the ladies who have gained weight - has it been a general weight gain all over the body? My DD (20) went to the GP this week as she's been having a period every two weeks. GP suggested she go on a contraceptive injection which I suspect may be this one as DD is only size 6 and can't put on weight and GP said one of the side effects of the injection was weight gain. She doesn't mind putting on some weight and getting more curves, but if it was all, say, on her tummy or something then she wouldn't be so keen. Interested to know your experiences.

Hi @TixieLix mine is very noticeably on my tummy, but it is all over. I had mine as I had come stand bleeding. I’ve been on it for 36 weeks and not had any bleeding at all, so I would only recommend it if she isn’t troubled at all about the weight gain. I read the other day that people that are not overweight before they have the injection are more likely the gain weight.
@WakeUpFromYourDreamAndScream mine is due on Monday, but Im never having it done again. I really hope we can lose thhid weight quickly. Please keep in touch x

I was on depo for about 5 years and yes put on a lot of weight, my GP told me that the only reason I had gained weight was eating more calories than I was using...
When I came off of my periods took 12 months to return, and then had “unexplained fertility” . It took me 5 years of TTC, eventually through IVF to conceive, I am convinced the Depo was to blame but never got any reason

Will do @Pearl97 good luck x
