Oh crap (literally)
I am due nhs foot surgery on MONDAY with a GA.
But I'm down with D&V. I had stomach surgery 6m ago and I've been struggling with my gut since and dd brought home a nasty bug. She's been off with it, and i'm just taking it. Been liquid at both ends since this morning and feeling worse as morning goes on.

I'd feel awful about wasting surgical time but should i call them? Will be they be able to reallocate the time now? shit shit shit...

You should be fine by then. Most bugs don't last that long.

Bearfrills · 05/04/2019 10:51

I would ring them.

You need to be clear of D&V for 48hrs. If there's a change you may still be ill with it tomorrow then there's no way you can be clear for 48hrs before Monday. Not only would you infect other people in the hospital, you could impact your own health during the surgery and during your recovery.

Last time I got one it took me 8 days to throw off (not feel better but stop puking). I'm already on tablets for nausea (I'm anaemic and struggling with the iron) and I can't keep them down. I'd feel so guilty tho

Best to call them and let them decide - they might still be able to get someone else in to use the slot

Call them and tell them, let them decide!

You can't go visit a hospital until you're 48 hours clear after a D&V bug anyway, that would be incredibly irreponsible. There are signs all over hospitals saying this!

Hope you feel better soon.
