Restaurant for a special birthday lunch in London with a baby in tow

DH has a significant birthday coming up but we have a ten month old baby. He'd like to go into central London for a day, including a decent lunch. Is there anywhere people could suggest to which we can take DS in his pram which would be a bit special but not stuffy/we'd feel awkward?

You could try Borough Hawksmoor if steak is a thing? We've taken our kids in there a couple of times and am sure I've seen a high chair in there before.

We've definitely taken baby to Hawksmoor and Boisdales and had a high chair. Also Barbecoa and Oxo tower.

My advice is to go to as many nice restaurants as you can before they can walk and don't want to stay in a high chair!

Brilliant, thanks very much!

Hi @Lochroy I know this thread is from a wee while ago but just wondering which restaurant you went for in the end? We are in London for a significant birthday in December with our one year old and thinking of Tredwells 😊

Lochroy · 16/11/2019 20:45

@ElevenOhFive Hi, we went to one of the Hawksmoors in the end. It was fabulous. We were there on a weekday lunchtime and IIRC fairly early (12.30) so it wasn't busy and we didn't need to worry when DS got a bit noisy as it was so big there was no one near us!

@ElevenOhFive we went to Treadwell's in September and were disappointed compared to our previous experience there.

Thanks @lochroy - will take a look at the menu. That’s a shame @johnlapsleyparlabane - have read mostly good reviews but one or two where people really didn’t enjoy which is a bit off putting
