PE teacher handing out sweets to reward kids

Just wanting opinions really, DD age 10 told me that her PE teacher gives out sweets to some of the children in the class to reward them for being good at PE.

Well from what she says, its the gymnasts and athletic kids who are getting the sweets. DD isn't good at PE and never gets any sweets.

None of the other teachers do this.

Would welcome opinions and thoughts on the merit of this as I couldn't think of anything positive to say......

Is the teacher giving them out for trying hard? If so this wouldn't bother me. Dd came home with a bag of haribo today for doing something or other in English.
I acknowledge it's not a healthy choice but the odd one here and there in an otherwise healthy days food doesn't bother me.
However if its given every time to the same few children who are naturally good and others are being ignored would be different.

The children who got them are naturally gifted at PE, DD says its the same ones all the time (and she isn't prone to exaggerate) She's trying to make sense of it.
