Kings Lynn or there abouts?

We are travelling from Skegness to Bewilderwood tomorrow. The journey is almost 3 hours so we are looking for drone thing to do around kings Lynn-ish to break up the journey for the kids (6&3). Any ideas of something in the area that will entertain them and possibly stretch their legs.

I’m from that area originally - there’s a giant Tesco extra with a Dobbies garden centre on the side that has a beautiful cafe and soft play for kids if that’s any good?

Hi

The Old Gaol House is great for kids. It's the authentic Victorian town prison with cells to lock mum and dad in, handcuffs etc. Very hands on, heavy and clanky.

Sandringham? Nice walk, cafe and play area.

Look up Worzals which is on the a47 around Wisbech, which is just before kings Lynn. Farm shop, restaurant, children's play area. Not so useful if you are travelling on the a17 though.

I am wracking my brain trying to think of somewhere around kl to go with little ones and not coming up with much! Church farm in stow bardolph is good though a little out of your way.

If you want to grab a picnic the walks park is good in the centre of king's Lynn. There is a subway right next to it.

We usually stop at Sandringham. Church Farm is good but about 10 miles / 20 mins out of your way on the A10. There is a McDonalds on the ring road round Kings Lynn too if you just want a super quick stop off.

Another vote for Stories of Lynn town hall, the town has spectacular history. And have lunch at Norbury's bakery it is lush (grab some sandwiches there and eat them by the water or the walks).

Boal Quay is probably the cheapest closest car park to stories of lynn.

Great! Thank you!

My 7yo finds the old gaol house frightening. At 6 and 3 the more upsetting elements might pass them by but DS finds it too much. Stories of Lynn is fab though.

If it's just a leg stretch you want, I'd park at St James multistorey, cross the road and go to The Walks. It's a large communal green space with a park, space to run around, stream with ducks and everything is blossoming right now. There is a huge Morrison's, plus Sainbury's and Lidl very close if you want food/snacks (walking distance) or there are things like Subway, McDonalds, KFC etc as well as two huge supermarkets at the Hardwick industrial estate which is a 2 minute drive away. Fuel is also v reasonably priced at the Hardwick if you need to fill up. Significantly cheaper than petrol nearer to Bewilderwood.
