“Flattering”

I was clothes shopping with my 18 year old ds today. He emerged in a suit, and the sales assistant said “that’s very flattering”- and I realised that there was no subtext- she just meant it fitted him well and the colour suited him. If she had said that to a woman, it would definitely have meant “It makes you look marginally less fat”.........Grin
