I only bath my 10 week old 2/3 times a week and have been using either Aveeno or Johnson's hair & body wash however his scalp is really flaky and looks awful.

How can I sort it?

It is more likely to be cradle cap than dandruff. When mine were babies we used to gently rub baby oil onto the scalp, which loosened the flakes and then wash as normal.

I used coconut oil and a little brush in the bath with my little one. It's cradle cap - hers is much better now at 4 months. You can also get special shampoo

Breast milk gets rid of cradle cap.

Its cradle cap. don't pick it or brush too harshly as you can cause infections. He will grow out of it.

SoHotADragonRetired · 04/04/2019 10:04

The Johnsons will probably make it worse. You don't need to use anything other than plain water on a 10wo, except high quality vegetable oil if they have very dry skin.

Its cradle cap, the health visitor told us to rub olive oil in to DC scalp, did not work in the end we found a shampoo for cradle cap and it cleared up lovely. Il find the name and pop bk

Stompythedinosaur · 04/04/2019 10:09

It is cradle cap. It will go away over time.

Raspberrytruffle · 04/04/2019 10:10

Dentinox from boots, its fab and gentle use it as regular shampoo. My dd had cradle cap rather bad,

redwoodmazza · 04/04/2019 10:12

Definitely cradle cap.

HoraceCope · 04/04/2019 10:17

cradle cap, try oil

Vanillaradio · 04/04/2019 10:29

Def cradle cap. Don't use Johnson's it tends to irritate sensitive skin. We used Dentinox which cleared it up pretty quickly. Olive oil did not work for us.

HoraceCope · 04/04/2019 10:34

do you not see your health visitor op?

Firsttimemummy19 · 04/04/2019 11:05

Thanks for the replies.

Plain water makes his hair like a wire brush - we have very hard water here.

Yes I see my health visitor, last visit was 6 weeks, next visit is 6 months.

I'll give dentinox a try - thank you
