Goddamn bastard colds!

Its hell. Steaming nose, actual rivers of snot. Horribly irritated sinuses. Sneezes that threaten to take my head off. Red runny eyes. So sick of it.

Do you have it too and what are you taking for it? I've tried Vit C, Lempsip Max Strength (utter crap), and ibuprofen (doesn't help with snot or sinuses). I'm taking a daily antihistamine as well coz have had hayfever for past 2 months, so it's not that. And WHY is there no cure for this affliction???

I’ve got it too. Nose is red raw from all the snot and my eyes are rivers. Constantly sneezing or feeling as if I’m about to sneeze. Currently lying in bed with a tissue up my nostril. Dreading the appearance of the unstoppable cough which is usually how my colds go. Hope you feel better soon!

'Currently lying in bed with a tissue up my nostril. '

That was me last night! So gross 😁 hope we both feel better soon!

I’ve got a cough and sore throat. Felt a bit stuffy and phlegmy earlier but seems to have passed for now. I don’t have time for a cold yet, I’ve just paid £400 for train tickets to London tomorrow and we’re there for 7 hours!

EleanorLavish · 03/04/2019 22:36

Sudafed tablets are great. Different ones depending on what you need. Ask your pharmacist.
I’ve the start of a cold today, stinging eyes, runny nose, sneezing, achy legs...nooooooo!

StarlightLady · 04/04/2019 02:43

I don’t think you have colds at all. I think it’s hay fever caused by spring blossom. Try anti-histamine tablets and a spray for the eyes. They wom’t cure it but they will help.

StressToy · 04/04/2019 02:58

Yup, this is why I’m sitting at the kitchen table at 3 am. Nurofen cold and flu didn’t alleviate symptoms during he day, and even though I took Night Nurse before going to bed, which used to knock me out till morning, tonight it wore off... (All I could get were the capsules, rather than the liquid — might they be less potent?) And I cant even move to the spare room so as not to wake DH with rattling coughs, as PILs are visiting.

Kill me now.

StressToy · 04/04/2019 03:00

Mine’s definitely a heavy cold, Starlight, but I think I get hay fever symptoms on top by day. Aargh.

SneakyGremlins · 04/04/2019 03:36

@StressToy the capsules are definitely less effective.

Do you lot not have any Vicks in??

Lottapianos · 04/04/2019 07:03

Starlight, read my original post

They can’t cure them because it’s not one bug, it’s different strains all the time. Which is why you can sometimes seem to have one for a monstrously long time, my GP said it’s likely you’ve actually caught a different strain so have a second cold following the first one.

Dd is streaming with cold today and thoroughly miserable, colds are absolute bastards.

Lottapianos · 04/04/2019 08:51

That makes sense Fenton (love your username!). I've been ill for nearly 2 weeks but I think it's been two separate bugs, one after the other. FUN TIMES Hmm

Feeling slightly less deathly today, and snot output so far is about 30% of what it was yesterday so a very weak hurray from me Smile
