Best thing to ask at parents evening?

We have parents evening later for my Yr10 DS. We get five minutes of which they usually spend four of those asking DS how he thinks he's doing. In the remaining minute what's the most useful thing to ask? Grin

I know everyone thinks these a waste of time but it's the only communication I have with his teachers all year!

What one thing can DS do to improve his grade in your subject?

Does DS have to go? I find I get more out of the teachers if the relevant DC isn't there. Not that they often want to come anyway.

I ask mine before I go if they have anything specific they'd like me to say or discuss with each teacher, and give them the feedback afterwards.

Like that one Purple.

Yes, he has to be there unfortunately. He won’t want me to ask anything though! 😄

I agree though I wouldn’t ask about one thing. I’d ask what dc can do to improve his grades and if there are any on line or other resources they can recommend.

How much does an A* cost?Grin

Thanks Charles, will see if can get that all in.

😂 @ BlueMerchant - although, that might work.....

What's the point of having a parents' evening when it's all about asking the child what they think? Surely this would be better done during school time without me here..?
I've often wanted to ask this

So it went better than expected and only about half of them asked DS how he thought he was doing. I got the questions in as recommended (except the how much does it cost one Grin ) and they actually gave me some pretty useful information! Shock

Bit worried about maths but otherwise he's doing well - yay!
