Job/Cover Letter advice

I have the job description for a job I'm applying to. They list competencies and skills. Do I need to say in my cover letter that I have each one? So if there are 13 attributes on the list will it be ok to say I have 11? Or do I need to list all 13 and make sure I can come up with something that vaguely fits if I get an interview? If I list all 13 would it look ridiculous and like I've just copied out the job description so making it sound implausible?

I know they scan the applications for keywords with software, but don't know if it's double checked by a person after or not.

Where I work job applications are shortlisted by the interview panel - so not a computer program. Applicants usually provide a CV with a personal statement and the panel look at both to see if the person spec had been met. So your CV may show you meet the minimum qualifications or relevant experience, etc. Then a personal statement may be where you evidence that you meet other sections. So for example, 'In my previous role I worked in a large team where I had decision making responsibilities, an example of this is...' So you wouldn't necessarily just relist the specification but expand and demonstrate how you meet each one. Hope that helps 🙂

Thanks.
On my cv I have my previous job titles and then a summary of what I did under each. I was planning to address the list of competencies in the cover letter. And hopefully give examples in the interview!
At what age does it become ridiculous to leave hobbies and university club positions etc on a cv? It's a while since I've done this...
