What wine for teachers?

My Dd has been on a week long school trip, she’s back tomorrow. I’d like to buy the 2 teachers that took them a bottle of wine each to say thanks. I don’t drink wine, I know sod all about wine - should I buy red white or fizzy? Given I know nothing about the teachers what is usually the most popular choice?

At this time of year any wine will do! Grin

If in doubt I’d go for white or fizzy over red.

I’m a teacher who is obviously very grateful for anything and the best is a heartfelt card etc etc...

BUT the fact remains I get a lot of bottles of cheap Prosecco (so much so that I regift endlessly to anyone who I can get away with it with and still have four in my cupboard at the moment and it’s not even the end of term yet).

My dad gets all the red wine I get.

I rarely get a nice dry white or rose. Which is a shame as that is what I drink.

Your teachers? Impossible to tell what they like really but a ‘normal’ bottle you yourself would drink after a hard week is a good starting point.

AppleKatie I don’t like wine, that’s why I don’t know where to start! Are chocolates better than wine?

In my circle, 8 out of 10 people prefer white wine.

Sauvignon Blanc is usually a safe bet.

I bought wine for the staff who took DD on a residential. There was 6 of them so I bought 2 red, 2 white, 2 rose, put them in gift bags with no label and with a card addressed to all telling them to share them out between themselves. In your case, I would probably get 1 red and 1 white and do the same. Personally I would go for a Malbec for the red and a Pinot Grigio for the white, but a lot of white drinkers like Sauvignon Blanc. I wouldn't worry too much about it though. They will just appreciate the gesture.

HoldMyGirl fabulous, that’s what I need - 8 out of 10 people is good enough for meGrin I’ll get the person in the offie to pick 2 nice bottles of white.

If you want age stats here are my non scientific ones:

Over 50- Red
Under 25- Sweet white
25-50- white, Pinot Grigio or Rose (pinot Grigio blush).
