If you get up very early..... tell me about it!

I've been finding that I am waking up earlier as I have been going to bed super early.

I can't quite bring myself to get out of bed at 4-5am yet and tend to nod off again until 7am.

Somehow though I feel it will benefit me to do so. But something about getting up before the sun is up also feels a bit depressing to me!

But then I think of all the things I could do before DS wakes - be more productive, exercise, have a cup of tea in silence, chill out.

Tell me about your life since starting to get up early! I'm interested in people who naturally get up early but also people who made the switch to getting up early and what difference it made to their life.

Are you more productive / chilled? etc.

I get up every day at 4.45 just after husband leaves for work. It's lovely and I enjoy that time with just the cats for company. I wake the children at 7.30 on school days and there is never a rush.

I wake up at 5 most mornings and get up at 5:15 - i exercice - a run beteween 5-20 km usually, get the breakfast ready, spend time slathering my numerous body creams on me, enjoy a coffee before the day actually starts, sometimes i cook too .. i love it, the going to bed early (9:45-10pm) doesn't bother me and my bad sleeping has got slightly better since embracing the early nights/early mornings.

I get up between 4 - 5 everyday. It's the best time of the day for me as that's when I have the most energy. I put a load of washing on, have a cuppa, feed the inside animals, cut up food for the outside ones. Surf the net. Get dressed and off for a walk at 6am (it's now dark when I set off) Sometimes some cleaning.

I get up at 5am, clean my teeth, drink some water, put my gym kit and trainers on then head straight out to the gym for 90 minutes! I find it easy to get up early if I'm going to the gym or on holiday or day trip or suchlike but not if there isn't anything specific. Hence the reason my house is STILL not decorated when I could finish it in a weekend if I could be bothered to get up at 6 instead of 7.30 on a Saturday Grin

My God I'm just going to bed then. I'm trying to get to bed earlier and get up earlier. today I was up at 11.00am, yesterday 1pm

I'm out at about 4.30 am most morning mucking and turning the horses out. 5.30am is a lay in! Smile

Love it - alarm goes off at 4.40am, up and out for a morning run. Back for shower, coffee, get the kids up and drop off at school by 7.30am, at my desk by 7.40am.

On the weekends, the early mornings are a treat because the kids can stay in bed. Up and out, run, coffee and sit on my porch watching the sunrise.

My absolute favorite time of day.

I'm definitely an early bird. I love getting up early and getting everything done before lunch so I can chill out in the afternoon. I get up at 5:30 straight to the loo & in the shower. Make up, hair, dressed, breakfast, tidy, laundry then out the house. I especially like getting early so I can get to the supermarket before it gets busy. I feel better for getting up & out rather than lazing in bed.

There are rare morning I am up before DS and DH. I love to sit with our curtains open, watching the world go by with a cuppa.

On the days I'm up early and they're up, I have had washloads in and out to dry (sometimes 2 at a push) dusted and hoovered the house, aswell as prepped for the evening meal. This is done between 6am and approx 8.30am. Then I do the school run and go to work.

What time are you lot going to bed?! I want to be you.

Don't you think using the word 'lazing' is a little judgemental towards people whose body clocks are wired differently from yours? That's like someone accusing you of 'lazing' in the evenings because you're (presumably) in bed earlier than most.

Of course she’s not being bloody judgemental!

If i’m In bed past a certain time I consider myself to be lazing in bed. It’s not a bad thing.. 🙄

pollyhampton · 02/04/2019 16:37

I go to bed (normally asleep) just after 10pm. I get up at 5.30. Weekends I get up a bit later. I have defective teenage boys who are both asleep by about 9.30 during the week and DH has a physical job so we are an early to bed family. All early risers though!

Flower777 · 02/04/2019 16:40

I bow down to you all.

I used to be a morning person but I’m so tired these days.

I respectfully disagree. You can't talk about 'lazing' without introducing an implication of 'laziness'. Otherwise, why not just say 'relaxing'?
