The day has arrived for our new family member to join us in his new forever home. we are going to collect him soon, he's only 9 weeks old.
We have spent since January researching him and getting ready so we are prepared, but any last minute tips from you expert MNers would be greatGrin

Oh by the way, 'he' Is a black Lab😊

Photo or you're fibbing Smile
And name!

Warmhandscoldheart · 02/04/2019 08:45

Take him straight into the garden/yard so he can sniff and pee.
If you have a crate cover the sides to create a den, it will make him feel secure.
and pics please Enjoy

As with all puppies, don't be cross with him if he chews anything such as shoes or furniture as it's not his fault they were left out or he was left unsupervised!

Take him with you everywhere by carrying him so that you socialise him to as many scenarios and sounds as possible. It can be hard carrying them when they get heavy but it's so worth doing.

Hope you have many happy years ahead of you.

I've got three dogs, they have enhanced and enriched my life so much.

Place marking for photos.

TwitterQueen1 · 02/04/2019 10:18

IME puppies love crates - they are (or should be) a safe, secure place where pup can go for a rest or when things are a bit overwhelming and when pup needs to calm down.

CommunistLegoBloc · 02/04/2019 10:28

Ooo not sure I would pick up a puppy because they’ll get used to being carried in stressful situations and when they get too big they could refuse to walk etc.

@palominoo have you got chihuahuas or Irish wolfhounds? Grin

Can’t wait to see pictures, OP!

WatcherOfTheNight · 02/04/2019 10:47

Black labs are the best !
Take lots of pics op,they grow & change so fast .
My handsome boy is 6 1/2 now but is just an overgrown pup Grin

RedWoodenStatue · 02/04/2019 12:44

Here he is, he's been investigating, had 2 wees on the floor and is now sleeping like a baby, next to his expensive cushion on the hard floorHmm
The cat has spotted him and is just watching from afar......

So Excited, its D Day!

Awww he's so cute OP!

TwitterQueen1 · 02/04/2019 13:47

Oh he's gorgeous! BUT WHAT'S HIS NAME???
My bro has what is now an enormous black lab called Scooby.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 02/04/2019 14:39

Cutie pie. Is he missing mum or has he settled. I have to say their cries are adorable.

FrederickCreeding · 02/04/2019 14:40

Oh, he's so gorgeous.
Probably not the right dog for you though op, I think you'd better send him to me Wink

Palominoo · 02/04/2019 15:15

CommunistLegoBloc. You have to carry puppies around outside in the first few weeks until they've had all their jabs. Putting them down on the floor carries a risk.

Op your dog is lovely. What's his name?

RedWoodenStatue · 02/04/2019 16:49

sorry for The delay, been busyGrin had a few visitors to see the new arrival. He has slept quite alot, loves the garden. Doesn't seem to miss mum too much. He cried abit on the way home but that's it.
His name is Scampi Smile

They're just delicious as pups arent they. You could just eat them all up, couldn't youGrin

CakeNinja · 02/04/2019 17:01

Ahh he’s so cute! I’m not an animal person but lab puppies are my exception to the cute factor Grin

RedWoodenStatue · 02/04/2019 17:29

Knackered after your first day. It looks like you might have a little tub or trouble on your hands, there.Grin

BlueMerchant · 02/04/2019 18:00

Expensive cushion unlikely to last long... I give it a week before scampi has shredded it! Grin
He's beautiful!

BlueMerchant · 02/04/2019 18:03

Oh, and have you remembered to buy some earplugs or else make up your bed next to his crate tonight?
Sorry. I'm being evil. The joys of puppies- we have one tooGrin

RedWoodenStatue · 02/04/2019 18:37
