So since Nov18 I have had some weird 3-week cycles. Mood swings, irritability, weird out-of-nowhere-anxiety, some hot sweats and insomnia (leading to debilitating crushing fatigue last week when my teenagers put me to bed ShockGrin haha!) I have been feeling Old. But still putting it down to other things, thinking it’s just life/work demands. I’m 46 (and a half!).

Now my period ‘started’ on Friday, except it didn’t. Not really. Barely a panty liner needed. Nothing Saturday. Same today. Not really more thank punk discharge. It’s ‘the period that never was’.

AIBU to be a bit Shock that the menopause is on its way?! Surely that’s not possible!

I still feel like I’m 30! Haha!! Is it just me?

This sounds like me! I’ve had about 5 months of 3 week cycles and then last month I had about 4 days of spotting before coming on properly so was about 25 day cycle. Come on today, well started spotting anyway and it’s day 26 so bit more normal length.
I e been very moody and started getting night sweats. Difference is I’m 36 nearly 37. Though my mum did go through menopause at 41.
No idea if it’s perimenopause. Had a blood test last month to check hormones and it all came back normal Confused

I was 47 in January. Just had 11 days of barely there followed by one day of nothing and then delightfully this morning bleeding like a stuck pig. This period was also 2 weeks late nearly prompting me to look like an aging muppet and buy a pregnancy test.
Yes to all the other symptoms but not all of them and not all of the time.
At my last pill check the nurse said no way could I be perimenopausel at my age.
I beg to differ.

I'm still convinced I'm 23 by the way. Struggling to discover my body disagrees!

When was your last pill check, when you were 27 :) What is she talking about. I thought the average age of menopause was 51. And that perimenopause could last 10 years. So at 47 (I am too and having periods that never were alongside absolute flooding ones of the type MNers would telling me to dial 999 with but I know it's only my cycle going haywire) you are well and truly the right age for it.

Flicketyflack · 01/04/2019 16:50

I'm 46 ( & 1/2) too Grin

Similar symptoms to you op. I went to Dr who scanned and found 7cm cyst (back in Sept) just had it removed.

My periods fluctuate from heavy bleeding to barely there. Mood swings like a murderer & night sweats Sad

Will see how being one ovary down affects that!

No answers just Thanks

Fifties here. Barely there, then heavy, then big gaps, then small ones......cycles from 15 to 50 days.
Can it just stop, please? I've bled since I was 10, so taken plenty for the team.
Fatigue, anxiety, early waking.

Menopause can feck off.

Chocolate all around, I think.

Ahhhhh, thanks for the 🍫

Rowgtfc72 well you must look 23 as well as feel it

😂 to aging muppet and pregnancy test.

Glad to hear I’m in good company.

night night 💤

Me too!
Although I am 52
Just want it all to stop now
Hot flushes
Anxiety
Mood swings
Really itchy scalp

Last period was horrendous, flooded while on a countryside walk, througha tampon and a heavy pad. Luckily had black jeans on 😢

One previous to that was 41 days and barely there. I thought that was great, but alas ......

Welcome to Peri-menopause. Get on HRT. It's a lifesaver.

MunchMunch · 02/04/2019 22:03

I'm wondering the same! I've only just turned 41, last weekend I had an unexpected period about 2 week after my expected period. I've noticed a few times where I've felt a bit hot and am easily agitated (I've been forgetting to take my sertraline, so that might explain the moods)

thesunwillout · 02/04/2019 22:10

Got my gp to put me on Cerazette again. Mini pill, take it back to back.
It's stopped the period non periods and the long waits etc...

33goingon64 · 02/04/2019 22:13

Interesting. I'm also 41 and have noticed the last year or 2 getting very angry frequently (My poor kids) and every few weeks having attacks of feeling hyper sensitive to noise and being around people. Not so much hot flushes but occasional night sweats. Is there a supplement that can help if I don't feel ready to go to GP yet?

AliceAforethought · 03/04/2019 00:20

Sorry, but at 46 1/2 it's pretty much inevitable that you're perimenopausal. Perimenopause lasts years, and average age for menopause is 50 ish.

Don't worry, you're in good company.
I'm 50 now and just hoping the whole thing fucks off soon. Periods are like blooming Niagara Falls.
