I can’t sleep for it . I’ve been scratching and scratching for the last hour . Whole fanjo has come up red raw over last 12 hours or so and been getting progressively more swollen and itchy . Not sure if I’m reacting to something (I’m just finished a period) or if it’s thrush but I’m going slightly crazy :-( . I’ve put on sudocrem, vagisil prohydrate and I’m still going mad with it . It’s that itchy I’ve actually blistered myself a bit and it’s bleeding . Wth can I do to settle it tonight before I can get to pharmacy ? Did consider sitting in a cold bath with a bit of salt in the water ?

I would have said thrush if it's red and itchy. You need to get some canesten cream from the pharmacy. For tonight, let the air get to it. Bathing in apple cider vinegar is good if you have any. I wouldn't put anything else on it or it could get worse. Don't use soap on it.

Natural yoghurt is also good if you have any of that.

Ouch. Have you any antihistamines in the house? It might help with the itching until you can get it treated.

If it's thrush (and it sounds like it), get the oral capsule canesten treatment, not just the cream. Just the cream probably won't shift a bad case.

Have you got a 24-hour chemist's anywhere near you?

fudgingawful · 01/04/2019 01:59

No 24h chemist unfortunately . It’s not so much sore inside , it’s the perinuem - whole thing has swollen up massively but it’s that bit that’s really very red . I’m struggling with anxiety hugely anyway so wasn’t excepting to sleep much as it is but this is awful, cross between itchy and nippy now .

I can take some cocodamol at 3.30 so fingers crossed that settles it a wee bit .

If you used perfumed towels for your period it could be that. I had to switch to non perfumed because it made me very sore and I’d been using the same brand for many years.

Get a sanitary towel wet and freeze it. Once cold enough wear it for instant relief.

You poor thing. Sounds horrid.

Get yourself to the sexual health clinic. It could be thrush. It could be eczema. It could be a herpes flare-up. It could be an allergic reaction. Each of these has very different treatments, so you need an accurate diagnosis.

And stop scratching as you will make it worse.

AquarianSquirrel · 01/04/2019 05:52

Avoid sugar/carbs. They are a big cause of candida which can cause thrush and cystitis.
