I've found a lump in my armpit. Could it just be a spot?

I'm 6 weeks pregnant and woke up with a sore armpit today. There's a hard and rather painful lump. Should I see a gp tomorrow, or could it just be a spot? It's the size of a large pea.

Probably a pimple.
I know a lot of people who get those, including me.

I've had those. If it's the same, it's a blocked sweat gland. It will go on its own. Go to the doctors though just in case.

Ok, I'll see what it's like in the morning. It's appeared very suddenly. Doesn't look like a spot at all, just a very hard and round lump under the skin.
Thanks.

Try putting a hot flannel on it, because it may well burst.

I had this and I got it checked out by the GP as soon as I could.

I think it was an infected hair follicle, I can't remember as it was a few years ago now

If it's hard and under the skin it does sound like a sweat gland. Don't worry and don't mess about with it. Good night!

Am I ok to put deodorant on tomorrow?

I don't think it would worry me.

DeRigueurMortis · 01/04/2019 01:27

I've had similar - it was a blocked sweat gland. It didn't "pop" just went away on its own in a few weeks.

However, I didn't mess about and got it checked by my GP.

Would strongly suggest you do the same.

GP was lovely and said she'd rather see 100 people like me for whom it turns out there is nothing to worry about then miss the 1 person who didn't book an appointment because they assumed it wasn't an issue.

Deodorant should be fine - but please get it checked.

I had a swollen lymph node. It lasted months and finally went away. Also know of a lump/ infection caused by slightly rusted razor.

ItsalmostSummer · 01/04/2019 01:52

Swollen gland too if you’ve been under the weather and sometimes you don’t realise how low your immunity has been, then you can get these. Self care, rest and healthy food veges with nutrients should help it pass.

I had one that was concerning enough for the gp to send me for relatively urgent scans etc and even in the hospital they were umming and ahhing about it for a bit but the upshot was they decided it was a cyst and although it hung around for a good couple of years it didn't come to anything and has gone now.

I'm sure yours is fine too but I would say just get it checked out by a gp to put your mind at rest.

I had this a long time ago... doctor said it was a blocked sweat gland. It went away quickly. See your doctor anyway.
