Lots of celebrity adverts make me cringe even when I like the actor. George and his crap coffee, Julie Roberts and perfume. Many many celebrities have done money-spinning Japanese ads and they are all awful.

That breakfast: veggies and fruit aren't generally eaten raw or with skin on in China as clean water to wash them is only available bottled and human fertilizer is used widely.
Thus a plate of raw fruit and veg like that is a really luxury item, considered western. The egg is more normal. 'pepper on the top' is odd phrasing. pepper most unusual too.
He's made an ad for the Chinese market. It's gone down well. I don't really understand the fuss.

The actual content of the ad didn’t surprise me - I’ve seen some very odd ads indeed on Chinese TV and airlines ( and Middle Eastern ones, come to that ), plus the terrible free in flight magazines designed to sell watches and fake Scotch, featuring Western actors and stars . My DH and I refer to them as ‘ must be a big tax bill’ jobs.

The amount of time he spent arsing around chopping up all that veg and frying an egg, he could have cleaned the bathroom, done the ironing or some other crappy job I hate to do. I'd have settled for a bowl of Shreddies.
