How can I get a new key for window?

I feel like there’s going to be a really obvious answer to this question and you’ll all think we’re a bit stupid but here goes...

We’ve lost the key for our bedroom window, none of the other keys fit and the windows were here when we moved in so don’t know which company fitted them or anything

How can we get hold of a key to get them open?

Do your neighbours have similar windows so that you can borrow a key to try?
Is there anything written on the lock?

StickyShoess · 31/03/2019 12:38

Nothing written on the windows at all
I hadn’t thought of asking the neighbours, good idea, I’ll go and have a nosy if any of their windows look the same...

Have you checked that the key isn't hanging on s robe hook on the back of your bedroom door, covered by a dressing gown?

Can you guess where I found mine recently after they'd been missing for years...? 😂

We had this issue and got a replacement from an online company. They have loads of pictures of different keys so you can try to identify yours, but crucially they have a free service where you can send them a picture of your handle and they will tell you which keys you need. Not affiliated in any way, just a satisfied customer! Google handles&hinges and look under window handle keys

Exactly what Bazookapie said. I sent them photos of my window handles, they emailed back the same afternoon saying something like 'You require key R104' and they include a link that takes you straight to the online ordering. Worked out at about 4 quid a key, keys arrived in the post anout 2 days later.
Brilliant service.

I had this and as per above had to change the handles. It is super easy even for me who is crap at DIY. Takes about 10 mins, the above company looks good, i think i just bought a few different sizes for less than 20 quid and used the one that fitted
