Nothing quite says happy Mother's Day like an execution, does it? Treasuring my hand-drawn Horrible Histories card depicting Elizabeth I vs Mary with the latter the surprise victor partly because this is going to be comedy gold when the child is older if they let me loose on any kind of speech.

Anyone else have any touching sentiments to share, from today or years past?!

When DS2 was 2yo and didn't understand the concept of Mothers Day but saw cards and went with what he knew - birthday! He followed me around all day singing "'appy burr-tay to yoooooooou!" and eventually had his brother and sister singing it too. When I tucked them in for bed that night DC1 told me it was great that my birthday was on the same day as Mothers Day so that he'll only ever have to buy one card.

MagicKeysToAsda · 31/03/2019 09:56

That started off so cute...and then I read to the end! Did you suggest officially changing DC1's birthday to 25 Dec Grin?

Last year, from 5 yr old DS, I got a corner ripped off a sheet of paper that had scribbled in red sharpie:

"I like yoe mum" with a ninja brandishing a sword dripping with blood

It will be going in the memory box to embarrass him with in later years. But it's currently pinned to my dressing table mirror and gives me a daily giggle.

Both those are excellent. I will be keeping mine up for a daily laugh too.

While writing my Mum's card, I noticed a rather unfortunate decoupage error...
Happy Mother's Day, Mum. You halfwit.HmmGrin

Why on Earth do you have a horrible histories card? Why did Mary win? Bloody Mary or Mary Queen of Scots? I'd secretly love that.

Chickaletta16 · 31/03/2019 10:30

I treated myself to a perfume for Mother's Day.. I've had my eye on it for ages - Sparkling Blush by Michael Kors !! It's smells heavenly.. any perfumistas out there you must try it !!

KindergartenKop · 31/03/2019 10:32

My mother's day card includes wine and 'bikit' (biscuits, but he can't spell and had to shorten it for the space). My mind doesn't boggle but I believe there's more to me than the amount of booze and confectionery I consume.

My favourite Mother’s Day gift ever was a set of home made zombie top trumps cards by DS when he was about 10 and he knew I loved The Walking Dead.

MagicKeysToAsda · 31/03/2019 10:41

Groundcontrol that is fabulous, I love it GrinGrin

Kindergarten loving your DC's work probably best they labelled the wine bottle I think I am the lucky recipient of a Horrible Histories fan-card because it's what DD loves most in the world...ergo it must be what I love too, right?!

My gift this morning was wrapped in Christmas paper Grin. It was either that or birthday paper apparently & the girls know I prefer Christmas!

KindergartenKop · 31/03/2019 10:45

Op you should show your DC the new MQS film (don't, it's filthy).

MagicKeysToAsda · 31/03/2019 10:53

Ha, think they're a tad too young but they spotted a poster for it and I was the Worst Mum for refusing to take them.

I'd take that as a win Lucysmam - not just a present, but a wrapped one!

My card has a picture of me as a Minecraft mum being shot by a Minecraft skeleton Confused. (Plus requisite squiggly racetrack which accompanies all cards written by my children).

MagicKeys it had unicorn sticky tape too Grin.

FrenchFancie · 31/03/2019 11:14

Mine had a poppy and ‘i’ll Never forget you mum’ written on it which seems rather like I’m already dead as opposed to 39.....

Malope · 31/03/2019 11:15

Part of DS's acrostic MOTHER poem about me. Particularly like T.

MagicKeysToAsda · 31/03/2019 20:20

Seems to be a bit of a macabre them with the skeleton, and the poppy...

Not today, but for my birthday recently, my DD got me a candle.

She couldn't see why I thought it funny.

She's 18!

Well in my card from ds (7), he made a list of all my qualities Shock

DISCLAIMER: All spelling mistakes are his not mine Smile
