10 days western Sweden

Can anyone offer any suggestions or advice on an area to stay in August? We are flying into Gothenburg and will be travelling with 18 month old DD. Planning to hire a car and will have buggy and carrier for DD. So far we are thinking of somewhere by a lake or the coast for the majority of the stay and maybe a few days in Gothenburg too. Advice from anyone who's been much appreciated thanks.

I went to Maarstrand (?) when I was a student and on a conference. That was very pleasant. Also some nice rocky walks nearby, next to the sea. I remember being amazed that the whole thing had ramps over the difficult bits.

I also really liked Gothenburg - a really nice city. Everything in Sweden is quite expensive (well, food and drink certainly) but I expect you know that already.
