I hate mother’s day

I know, lots of people don’t have a mum/ can’t have kids/ have it much worse.
But I’m sick of this. All day all I’ve heard from 4dc and dh is: x hasn’t bothered to get you anything for tomorrow; y threw your present in the bin because dad asked him to do z; x doesn’t even care enough to do (whatever) tomorrow; w only got you (——) because he couldn’t be bothered with Mother’s Day; the dc are too spoilt to even care enough to get you something...
All I want is a homemade card and a lie in, instead I get a day of constant pointing out of how no one cares and how they view Mother’s Day as a chore. A whole day of being told, constantly, that no one cares.... I don’t want gifts ffs, just a happy, ordinary day as a family. But instead I’m sat in tears and dh has gone to bed muttering about how we’re not doing birthdays/ holidays from now on because no one cares about me.

And now dh says he’s leaving. He spent all day berating the kids about how little they care about me and is now sleeping downstairs because I’m upset and a crank.

Get up mega early and bugger off out for the day. Shopping and lunch etc.

Obviously reply to any text in case they think you've done a complete runner.

Ler them bicker for a day without you whilst you enjoy some time to yourself.

Howmanysleepstilchristmas · 30/03/2019 23:47

I can’t. He’d take them and leave.

Deep breath.

How old are they all? Who is the one doing all the doom-mongering tittle-tattling?

Is there a pattern?

Your DP sounds very manipulative btw.

Howmanysleepstilchristmas · 30/03/2019 23:56

Dh. And dd11. Ds5 and ds7 too in more general terms. Ds13 isn’t interested!

How old are your kids?
Maybe for future years make your expectations clear. I want a nice family day. I don't about gifts, I'd just appreciate a cuppa and an acknowledgement...

Your dh sounds like he's being a bit of a dick though. Is that normal behaviour for him?

TheGrey1houndSpeaks · 31/03/2019 00:00

Your DH has been telling you about your kids not bothering to buy you a gift / throwing the gifts they did buy you in the bin??
He sounds younger than any of them Confused

I just take Mum our for an expensive lunch
I will get whatever they have made at school/Brownies/cubs
Whatever

elasticfantastic · 31/03/2019 00:06

He'd take them and leave??? What? Forever?? If just for the day then I'd say that was a bonus!! Enjoy some You time! If forever then there are bigger issues than Mother's Day to worry about and he sounds like an arse.

I hope tomorrow they do remember to make sure that you have a nice day xThanks

AutumnCrow · 31/03/2019 00:09

He'd take a 13, 11, 7 and 5 year old and leave?? To go where, exactly?

TheGrey1houndSpeaks · 31/03/2019 00:13

He’d leave if you went out for the day by yourself? Why is just a problem for you on Mothers Day? He’s obviously a prize arse all year round.

Howmanysleepstilchristmas · 31/03/2019 00:16

No, he says he’s leaving. Forever. Doubt tomorrow will be a nice day now.

It was the 11yo who told me her brother threw a gift in the bin.

TheGhostOfBrexit · 31/03/2019 00:20

I bet he doesn't leave with the dcs. Where will he go?

Palominoo · 31/03/2019 00:26

Like he's going to leave and cope on his own with all the squabbling and taking care of the kids by himself!

Next time he threatens it, tell him to go ahead.

Howmanysleepstilchristmas · 31/03/2019 00:28

It’d only be the youngest 2

LifeofClimb · 31/03/2019 13:22

Are you ok op? Flowers

Howmanysleepstilchristmas · 31/03/2019 20:47

They’re all still here. Going to talk later in the week apparently.

OP posts:
ILiveInSalemsLot · 31/03/2019 20:58

It sounds horrible op.
There will be a reason why your kids are talking to you like that and throwing gifts in the bin. I suspect it’s because of your dh....

Singlenotsingle · 31/03/2019 21:05

That H of yours is a shit stirrer and the sooner he leaves, the better. Y only threw the present in the bin because your H told him to. And H has been saying they're all spoilt and no one cares. He's absolutely horrible and for some reason is trying to turn them all against you. And where is he going to go with dc7 and dc5?

JesusInTheCabbageVan · 31/03/2019 21:10

user148 Nobody asked what you were doing. The OP is seeking support.

JesusInTheCabbageVan · 31/03/2019 21:12

Hope things are OK *Howmany Flowers

MrsAmaretto · 31/03/2019 22:30

Are you okay? Your husband sounds like he’s manipulating you and the children. Can you phone a support service in the morning? X
