Adult scooters

Thinking of getting a scooter so I can keep up with my four year old on hers (and possibly also to commute to work instead of walking, if I don't look too much of a wally). Any recommendations/things I need to look for? I live in a city, but right by a pedestrian and bike friendly path alongside the river, and won't be taking it on public transport. Is it easy to get to grips with a scooter or is there a learning curve? It took my 4 year old about 2 days before she was confident, but I'm almost 40!

Thanks, just been having a browse round their website. Do you know whether it's a good idea to go for one of the models with a hand brake as well as a foot brake?

I have an Oxelo with a foot brake. Honestly, it is the MOST fun, and I look far less of a wally on it than I did running down the street, shouting STOP at the top of my voice. I’m like a mother duck with her ducklings waddling behind her now. Added bonus is my Fitbit tells me it’s brilliant exercise too.

Oh and I’m 43, it took me about an hour to get up to speed. Took my 70yr old mum even less - to be fair it was a Christmas present and she’d has the best part of a bottle of Chablis when she tried Grin

Ah brilliant, thanks, that's the kind of thing I wanted to hear! Might get one as a mother's day present to myself Grin

DH thinks it's hilarious that I want to get a scooter to keep up with the dc. I'm fed up of half running/walking everywhere to keep up.

I'm pleased it's not just me!! Grin

I might get myself one as a Mother's Day treat now too....

Not just you, go for it! I'm thinking of one from here: www.decathlon.co.uk/C-781131-adult-scooters#product_8494838 but still trying to decide exactly which one. I am super indecisive though so it will take me a while.
