Ryanair "one small cabin bag" only luggage cheapest option - ladies was this enough??

If you've flown with the airline with the cheapest option which only allows one small cabin bag - please let me know if you felt that was enough and all things that you managed to fit into it !

Journalist?

LooksBetterWithAFilter · 30/03/2019 12:21

Enough for what?

BaronessBomburst · 30/03/2019 12:22

Yes, I've always managed fine.
I can easily do two weeks somewhere warm, or a week with jeans and cardigans. In fact, when DS was under 2 I used to fit his stuff in as well.

Enough for my sextoys and lube.

Not enough for a toothbrush and a book. It underwear. But I didn't mind that so much Wink

jiggsymalone · 30/03/2019 12:25

I thought it had changed so that one small cabin bag is literally a handbag or a laptop case? You now need to pay additional for the 10kg cabin bag you used to be able to bring on for free.

WinterHeatWave · 30/03/2019 12:31

Enough for what? A clean set of underwear, clean T-shirt, toothbrush, toothpaste, soap, passport, phone and wallet for one person. Yes, of course it's big enough.

Going to your sisters wedding, might need a bit more space.

twattymctwatterson · 30/03/2019 12:31

It's a handbag not carry on luggage. I'm always suspicious of people who address us as "ladies"

daisypond · 30/03/2019 12:36

The new Ryanair size for cabin bag is fine. 40x20x25cm. It's about the size of a small rucksack/daysack, but it's deeper than a rucksack, so more like two small rucksacks. It's the shape you need to account for - it's quite a solid oblong shape.

HotpotLawyer · 30/03/2019 12:37

I can fit an entire capsule wardrobe for 3 weeks in my laptop bag.

But then I don’t carry hair straighteners.

barkinatthemoon · 30/03/2019 12:44

the ryan air bag that comes included in thr flight price is TINY. not a standard cabin size bag at all. We're flying with them Monday and have paid for the extra cabin bags (which are the usual hand luggage size) as the "free ones" are tinyyyyy. like not even a small backpack... one of the dimensions is ridiculous.

Notaclue30 · 30/03/2019 13:10

The best way of discribrbing it is it's about the size of a football boot bag so not as big as an over night bag

Ryanair "one small cabin bag" only luggage cheapest option - ladies was this enough??
Singlenotsingle · 30/03/2019 13:13

No. We booked priority boarding which gave us one more bag. One in the overhead storage, one under the seat in front.. it wasn't expensive.

PH03b3 · 30/03/2019 13:28

Yep - very easy.
I do suspect your a jerno so i won't elaborate further and make your job easier.

CitrusDreams · 30/03/2019 13:38

So ridiculous people think I'm a journalist..!

The reason I put ladies in the title is because I know generally men pack very lightly so wanted a woman's perspective. If I had put "females, or women, or girls" I'd have likely had the same sarcastic comments..!

Thank you to the ones who answered with helpful suggestions/advice.. it does sound rather small tbh might need a packing rehearsal beforehand lol

Does anyone know if extra luggage can be added cheaply on day of travel with ryanair? The website is confusing

OP posts:
jiggsymalone · 30/03/2019 13:45

I don't know how much it costs on the day but I have added luggage on online beforehand in the past. If I remember correctly it was just a case of logging in and going to that booking and adding it on.

CitrusDreams · 30/03/2019 15:17

Ok great thanks @jiggsymalone

Singlenotsingle · 30/03/2019 15:25

It's probably more expensive if you don't book it in advance

Nowthenforever2019 · 30/03/2019 15:29

I'm a proud light traveller. I struggle with it for a week away, can do a long weekend. If you need more than 2 pairs of shoes, it's a bugger. I usually pack flip flops Erich double for beach and meals out, wear trainers which double for walking and jogging.

BitchQueen90 · 30/03/2019 15:30

It's enough for me for a long weekend. Wouldn't be for a week.

barkinatthemoon I've never paid extra for luggage on Ryanair and my average size backpack has always been fine. I travelled with Ryanair 3 weeks ago and my backpack got on as free luggage.

CitrusDreams · 30/03/2019 22:20

Thanks :)

Yeah it’s fine, I’ve just done a week in Cyprus with it. I don’t think adding luggage on the day is a good idea, I think I read something that said it would be £30, but selecting It earlier and it’s £6-10.

Angelf1sh · 30/03/2019 22:24

That being said, it probably wouldn’t be enough if I’d gone somewhere cold and was packing thick jumpers and jeans. For a load of sun dresses and bikinis, it’s more than enough space.

RomaineCalm · 30/03/2019 22:40

Without looking at the website I would suggest that nothing can be added cheaply on the day of travel with Ryanair. All of their policies are designed to confuse people and extract additional cash for not following their rules.

barkinatthemoon · 31/03/2019 21:04

you can add luggage online in advance for a reduced fee, adding at airport will cost significantly more. But any luggage added after initial booking will have to be checked into the hold I'm afraid.
