You know when something pops into your head and you can’t quite reach the answer?

I’m watching Friends on Netflix and remembered that when it was originally on channel 4 in the 90s it was sponsored by a brand of shampoo. Being an impressionable teenager at the time I HAD to have this shampoo. I seem to remember it had different coloured bottles for different shampooing needs. Apart from that, I can’t remember anything. I don’t think you can get it any more, I looked in the supermarket. It might have been rebranded though.

Does anyone else remember this? Thanks in advance if you can stop my brain from trying to find the answer.

I think it was Herbal Essence, before they changed their packaging.

I seem to recall it as Herbal Essences too, before they had the rebrand into solid colour bottles rather than clear with the colour of the liquid visible iyswim.

Looking at Herbal Essences it doesn’t look right, but it’s so long ago that I’m probably misremembering. I vaguely recall it was a sort of cream coloured packaging with a coloured lid. Gahhh I’m so annoyed that this popped up in my mind!

The only other brand that springs to mind is Salon Selectives? Don’t remember them sponsoring Friends though.

Herbal Essences. They used to have creamy coloured bottles for the conditioner with different coloured lids.

This is how I remember the old Herbal Essences packaging being around that era.

I remember it OP. But not what it was called. There was a golden yellow one that I used, and also a turquoise blue one that was the perfect product for my hair, it was called something like “2nd day hair” and was a shampoo and spray in conditioner. It seemed to be marketed at teens/twenties, there were kind of cartoon images of a set of friends, each with a different hair type and their dress was the same colour as the bottle that they would use.

Have you looked on YouTube at 1990s shampoo ads?

It was Sunsilk!!! And the yellow/gold was care and repair!
