Travel Agents

Do you still use a travel agent for holidays?? I decided to try one recently and there was so much backward and forwards! It seems much easier to do it all yourself!! They didn't seem to be able to get it any cheaper either!!

I prefer to do things myself, but you get better protection booking things all together as a package

You can book a package without going anywhere near a travel agent.

I've never used a travel agent and just do it all online, either as a package or independently.

There is an independent travel agent in my local town, they seem to do OK. I do wonder about all the cheap deals in their window, whether they actually exist or if you go in, they'll try to sell you a load of extras so it doesn't end up that cheap anyway?

In Europe I usually just book flights and accommodation myself, but used Trailfinders for my honeymoon (to get the best times and hotels for the dates I had) and for a trip to America last summer, trying to get the best price for 3 cities and one hotel. Adding the hotel to the four flights actually made it cheaper, whereas I'd have had to pay separately.

I now tend to use an independent one although a lot of what she does tends to be Thomas Cook. She gets some fab bargains though if you can go whenever.

Depends what for, i like multi centre holidays which may involve island hoping, so internal flights plus a few hotels, as such a travel agent is best to do this (i'm too lazy!)
Have just booked a European holiday myself though as saved £400 booking the flights and hotel desperately, if easy i'm happy to do it :-)

I sort it out myself on line. You are still covered if you have travel insurance.

On some longrr trips I have costed it myself, walked into a travel agent and told them straight, I can do this for x, can you beat it?
