Weirdest question I'll ever ask on Mumsnet...

Can you catch any kind of disease from a lamb bone?

Ddog had a bone earlier, from the butchers. There was a shard of bone left on the floor that I've trodden on, on my way to bed. It's broken the skin on my heel and drawn blood. Do I need to think about getting a tetanus jab or anything?!

Was the bone cooked?

More likely you'd get an infection from bacteria from the dog's spit, I guess.

Caution: am neither a doc, a vet, nor a lamb bone expert.

No, it was a raw bone...

Not that I'm medically qualified, but I'd be more concerned about the germs from the floor where the dog was eating and the dog's saliva.

Give it a good clean with some antiseptic and see a medical professional if it starts to show signs of infection.

To be honest, I wouldn't give it a second thought.

I'd dab with tcp, and put on a plaster on. Keep an eye on it for any infection.

I'm not remotely medically qualified though - just dealt with a lot of injuries in my time (mum of three...)
