How the hell can I still be in pain

I woke up this morning in severe pain due to period . Very heavy bleeding - soaking through everything , and vomiting . Have seen nurse practitioner who has given me buscopan, dihydrocodeine, tranexamic acid and naproxen . I am still horribly sore even after all that - I dozed for about an hour after getting home but have woken up with pain at 6/10 still .

I have a background of endometriosis with adhesions and PCOS so I’m used to pain but normally that amount of stuff would help somewhat ! Instead I’m bedridden and researching hysterectomies :-( . Is there anything old fashioned I can try ? Have got a hot bottle and chocolate .:.

How much are you bleeding now? I think you need to ring 111 for more medical advice.

Soaking through nighttime pads - 1 every two hours - but to be fair I’ve only had 4 tranexamic acid so far , two first thing and two with lunch . It’s just the pain and dizziness . I’ve had period pain since I was a teen - have been admitted for IV fluids and morphine several times - but not as bad as this for a long long time .

Can’t get 111 up here as it’s blocked during day (scotland) but I’ll ring GP surgery again :

I would ring 111. That amount of bleeding might need a trip to a and e.

If the bleeding doesnt begin to tail offyou need to go to a&e or any emergency gynae unit you have. That level of bleeding is something that needs to be looked into especially when tranexamic acid isn't working. You need blood tests and perhaps IV t.acid. I wouldn't bother going to the GP, go to a&e.

This is the exact advice we would give you on the gynae unit.

It’s slowed down a bit thankfully . Still in a lot of pain - was relatively OK until about 20 mins ago , can feel it kicking back in again . I’ve taken the TA , will have two more buscopan and dhc as it’s four hours since last lot . So tired .

Op, are you alone? You need urgent medical attention.

Fairylea · 28/03/2019 17:04

Tiredness can be a sign that you are losing too much blood. Go to a and e. Ring 999 if you feel you can’t cope alone or if you’re feeling you are on the edge of falling asleep, you need urgent medical help.
