Tell me about your comfy work shoes

I'm desperate to find the ultimate pair of comfy work shoes.

I work in health care, a lot of my colleagues seem to go for this pair in the picture which are supposed to be just that. However there's just no way I can get over the style, I can't do that to myself!

I spend a lot of my time on my feet, walking around in the community. I also spend a lot of my time on the floor - on people's living room floors and kneeling down to a child's level etc. Basically I need them to be durable, the ones I have now got scuffed straight away.

Any suggestions? Would be much appreciated! I don't care THAT much about style, but the ones pictured are just too awful.

I usually wear black plimsolls from primark, like £4 ones and i found them to be comfy enough for me and I work in a pub, so constantly rushing around and walking and I never had a problem. They didnt last as long but it was probably cheaper than spending £45 a time on shoes that would maybe last twice the time my £4 ones lasted, and i found them comfy. Perhaps try clarks or Deichmann if they have to be leather/smarter looking

I had some of these when I was training...best shoes ever! Lasted me the whole three years and beyond, well worth the money and if you can find a discount code better still Grin

Hotter
I don't know a teacher who doesn't love them!

Thelieswetelltoourselves · 27/03/2019 21:37

Hotter shake style. Passable

DameXanaduBramble · 27/03/2019 21:38

Clarks Griffin Mabel are super comfy and look quite nice too! I swapped them for the ones shown when i just couldn’t bear looking at them any longer, the griffins are just as comfortable.

greensnail · 27/03/2019 21:39

Definitely Sketchers.

Passmethecrisps · 27/03/2019 21:40

God they are foul OP, have you looked at Gabor

Nnnnnineteen · 27/03/2019 21:48

I'm a teacher and my feet would disown me if I put those hotter things on them!
I can wear trainers in work so tend to do so, or flat ankle boots.

TemporaryPermanent · 27/03/2019 21:53

Hotter. Fuck it. just do it. some are better than others looks wise. I have left behind decades of assuming that new shoes meant literally weeks of bleeding and painful feet. Hotter are comfortable from day 1, all day long.

evilharpy · 27/03/2019 21:54

What about a pair of brogues like Clarks Hamble Oak?

Celticrose · 27/03/2019 22:03

This is an American brand called Alegria. They are on Face book. I have 2 pair I got in Canada which are like those shown but are patterned one floral and one more abstract. A black pair that were sent to me and a black pair I purchased online from a company called Cheerful soles which are in Devon I think. The style I have Mary Jane's are aimed at HCP they also do them in white. They are soo soo comfortable. They are the only shoe that I can wear all day and the insole is removable and you can buy replacement insoles.

Clarks Funny Dream are ridiculously comfortable

MorningsEleven · 28/03/2019 21:19

I wear Remonte shoes for work.

Greenteandchives · 28/03/2019 21:23

Crocs At Work flats.
I work in community health. These do everything, go everywhere and get washed often.

UtterlyDesperate · 28/03/2019 21:23

Docs. They shred your heels when you are breaking them in, and then they are the most comfortable and supportive shoes you have ever worn.

You need something with a firm sole - otherwise, you are opening yourself up to issues with arches etc in later life, plus it's also easier to slip, fall and sprain things, apparently.

PinguForPresident · 28/03/2019 21:27

Skechers Go Walks. I have them in black leather, but most just wear the regular fabric ones .

Perfect from the first wear.

TheFirstOHN · 28/03/2019 21:30

I wear Clarks un-loop. Clearly I have no shame. 🤣

ilovepixie · 28/03/2019 21:34

I chase around all day after teenagers with multiple complex needs and severe autism , getting into all manner of interesting positions and situations. I don’t know I’m wearing these .

hvonamission · 29/03/2019 19:23

Yesss thank you all!
I'm going to have a good look through all of these.

Lots of votes for the Hotters brand, they do look comfy but the style just isn't really for me.

I really like the sound of the docs with the T bar! They're nice! I'll have to go and try a pair on, they're pricey!

Thanks again everyone x
