Sky has finally done a price rise too many and we’re cancelling. So....if you are just using free view, how do you record stuff?

You can get hard drive boxes to record from Freeview. We set one up for my DM and she finds it easy to use. It was from Argos and I think the brand was Humax.

You’d need a free view box with the ability to record programmes.

What is it you're recording? I just stream everything from Netflix/prime/individual channels when I want to watch it. Haven't had a recorder in years.

Meretricious · 27/03/2019 07:33

Good point pascha. I think it’s my way of remembering there’s something I want to watch!

Oh and there’s films and things that aren’t necessarily available to stream .

Also game of thrones, how are we going to watch that?

Game of thrones is on Now TV, think it's about £8 a month

We cancelled sky a while back, and honestly haven't missed it at all. I use iplayer to watch sewing bee, and that's about it really. Am also concerned about Game of Thrones though. If the new season comes on Now tv I'll just subscribe to that. Maybe wait till it's all fine and watch it all in one week.

anniehm · 27/03/2019 07:54

Now tv is cheaper (or you can buy day passes) but you cant record or stream. We kept basic sky and boxsets but cancelled films and sports (we "need" greys anatomy!) currently paying just £10 a month on top of phone and broadband

Meretricious · 27/03/2019 08:08

We’ve only got basic and box sets. But we can’t bundle with the bband or phone.

Now TV sounds good. Also got amazon (use prime a lot), Netflix which the kids living away are using....it’s all adding up.

We've got a freesat recording box. Uses all the same cabling as sky so didn't have to mess about with aerials. We bought it 7 years ago for £200, its paid for itself a fair few times over!
