I couldn’t believe my eyes today - beauty in nature

Ok, so this is maybe not massively exciting, but I thought it was one hell of a coincidence in nature and lovely to see.

I passed a field today - a field with no pond or any other exciting feature - and side by side were two swans, two geese and two pheasants!

I see the swans most days, but imagine seeing those three pairs next to one another.

Wish I could have taken a pic.

So much blossom lining the roads on my morning drive! White and cream and yellow...

It's a beautiful spring this year, my favourite season.
There are owls in the gardens at the back of my house. I was watching them hunt last night. Astonishing. The foxes are frisky, too. I watch a tortoishell one especially, he is a weedy little thing with a spindly tail, but he trots about so proudly.
I love birdsong. I want a recording of the dawn chorus played at my funeral.
My bulbs are coming up all of a sudden. I put some in a while ago and forgot what they were, so I will get a surprise.

I see lots of buzzards lately. Their numbers seem to be surging. Great when they fly around in circles with each other (squawking away).

We see a lot of buzzards and red kites. Less kestrels now though, I used to see them all the time but I can't remember the last time I saw one even though I drive through countryside all the time. I think the loss of hedgerows/intensive farming doesn't help. My children always used to point out kestrels as we saw them all the time ten years ago but now I think most children under 10 won't have ever seen one.

I love looking out the back door and seeing Ashycat getting a few rays of sunshine on her fur.

At my (lesbian) wedding last year, we were standing outside, looking at the gorgeous countryside, as the sun was setting, having pictures taken and suddenly a rainbow appeared in the sky. No rain. It wasn't in a rainbow shape, more like a square/rectangle, so almost like the Pride flag! Grin Nobody could believe it! I've never seen a rainbow without rain.

Honestly, it was magical Smile

There is a book called Noah's Ark full of illustrations and paintings by the now deceased Dutch artist Rien Poortvliet. I recall that somewhere in it is a picture he drew immediately after he had seen three black and white animals together. They were a friesian cow standing in a meadow, a magpie sitting on the gate and a cat sitting on the floor. They were all looking at each other, as if having a joint discussion. If you can find a copy of this book OP you would love it.
