I couldn’t believe my eyes today - beauty in nature

Ok, so this is maybe not massively exciting, but I thought it was one hell of a coincidence in nature and lovely to see.

I passed a field today - a field with no pond or any other exciting feature - and side by side were two swans, two geese and two pheasants!

I see the swans most days, but imagine seeing those three pairs next to one another.

Wish I could have taken a pic.

Were they waiting for an ark

I saw a kingfisher once, perched on a branch over hanging the canal. He was so small I could easily have missed him but I didn’t! He was magical, almost mythical. He had the most beautiful petrol blue feathers. I’ll always remember that moment.

There is a tree about half way along my walk to work that I stop to look at most days, I don't know what type of tree it is but it is almost storybook in the way it typifies the season. Beautiful shape when bare, full of pink blossom, vivid green leaves that turn to brown and flutter down.

BikeRunSki · 27/03/2019 06:49

I am fortunate that I used to have to visit an RSPB reserve often - at least once a week - for work. The first time I saw a kingfisher he was about a metre away, then flew off down a river. That was about 12 years ago and I think about it often!

Agree with everyone about the blossom at the mo, stunning! Saw a long-tailed tit walking back from school pick-up yesterday. Such a cute little thing, like a little puffball Smile

The humble Hawthorne trees are flowering their socks off

What a lovely way off putting it!

Spring is so stunning this year -I feel like I'm tripping Grin

I came out of work one day and the field next to it there was about 50 stag/deer/doe not great with knowing the difference. It was beautiful but I had to stand right next to them for the bus and was terrified they would stampede 😂

I keep sheep and love watching the lambs playing. They love nothing more than annoying mum by jumping on her back when she’s having a quiet moment, nibbling her ears and generally being an annoying toddler. My older ones are 2 weeks old now and i call them rugrats. They are very playful and look at me with a cheeky glint in their eyes as if to say “ha, you cant catch me!”

TheSassyAssassin · 27/03/2019 07:09

Any lamb pics would be very welcome Blackandpurple Wink

Blackandpurple · 27/03/2019 11:19

I’ll see what I can do!!

nowshesaturtle · 27/03/2019 11:39

I saw a lamb and a sheep together. The sheep was doing that capering thing that lambs usually do and the lamb was just watching it. I could imagine the conversation: "Look, you're a lamb, this is what lambs do"
"Nah, you're alright, that's yesterday's news, I'm a big girl now"

doctorboo · 27/03/2019 11:46

Each of your experiences have really buoyed my mood.
I’m lucky enough to help out at Forest School during the week and it’s been wonderful seeing the change from autumn to spring.

I go running in the early morning past some fields. There are always about ten red kits swooping and soaring really low above my head. It's such a treat.

spiderlight · 27/03/2019 11:48

I spent ages yesterday watching two buzzards flying together, circling and calling to each other. They nest in the trees where I walk my dog so I often see or hear one of them, but it's rare that I see them together.

I was driving home from town the other day and a peacock ran out and crossed the road in front of me.

bloodywhitecat · 27/03/2019 11:53

The first one of my favourite places, it is on the Isle of Skye, I always feel at peace there.

Then there is my most favourite photo of a starling taking a bath in our tiny nature pond.

The last one was taken one evening when we went out for a walk, we came round a corner and saw two young hares playing in the road, as they scampered off I was lucky enough to capture this shot.

What a lovely thread.
It's so easy to rush around doing errands, going to work etc and miss all this fabulous nature.
I'm hoping for more great pictures. The hare one is fab bloodywhitecat

DH and I saw 2 hares in a field on Monday, and I took DMum out for a drive yesterday - we saw:
2 small deer
Fields full of lambs
1 rabbit
1 heron
1 raptor, possibly a buzzard
A field full of swans - there must have been close to a hundred
And a partridge in a pear tree.

OK, the last one was a fib.

chocolategivesmehives · 27/03/2019 14:57

Whitecat, that is a great photo of the hare.

chocolategivesmehives · 27/03/2019 15:00

Here are some lambs and some of the swans
