Does anyone know Byfleet?

Hoping to travel soon to visit a family member but don’t know the area at all
We’d need to travel on public transport via London Kings Cross, how easy is it to get to Byfleet from there?
What’s public transport around the area like?
Finally is there much locally to entertain a 4 year old?

Byfleet and New Has station is on the main line from Waterloo so you would need to cross London.

In terms of things to do, Brooklands Museum (cars and planes) is great for kids, and is a short bus ride from Byfleet (10mins max). In Woking there is also the Light Box and the Living Planet Centre which are cheap/free and can kill an hour or so. If you have transport/budget to allow it, Chessington is only about 20 mins away.

Sorry, missed the bit about public transport. It isn't great TBH, there are buses to Woking twice an hour but that's about it. There is no public transport from the station, which is on the outskirts of the village, but you could get the train to West Byfleet instead then get a bus back to the centre of the village.

Thanks, think we might have to go later in the year when DP can travel with us then
Family members will want to take DD out and spoil her but without a car seat it doesn’t sound like we’d be able to do much

If she's 4 would she be ok with a booster cushion? You can pick them up pretty cheaply, they may not mind buying one, or may be able to borrow one from someone local.

This is near the station.

That looks great, thanks for the link

While she is tall for her age she’s nowhere near the 125cm that’s recommended to use a booster cushion now and I really wouldn’t feel comfortable not having the high back car seat

Think we’ll hope for the best and visit in the summer instead when we can drive there
