Have you ever felt this way?

Have you ever felt so stressed and nervous about something you literally give yourself an upset stomach Blush

I have a job interview tomorrow and I have no free time today to prepare for it as I have two children all day until DH returns home and by the time that comes I am usually struggling to keep my eyes open. I have so much to prepare and I am so worried I'll fail. Now I feel like I'm going to shit myself which is just another thing to add to the stress pot.

Any advice for managing stress like this? I want this job so badly

I get this sometimes! I had an interview for a job I had been working up to for a long time and I had to get up two hours before just to keep pooping! Buscopan should help, maybe some immodium if you are still having trouble an hour before leaving for interview!

Put some fun music on, try and distract yourself as much as possible, maybe chat to some friends. One way or another, it'll be over by a certain time tomorrow, you got this OP x

Yes it's the flight or fight feeling and natural /normal to get this when scared/anxious/stressed.

By evacuating your bowels you are able to run away faster, apparently!

FetchezLaVache · 26/03/2019 10:25

Oh yes, OP - it always happens to me, too! I would be able to run away really, really fast...

sparkling123 · 26/03/2019 13:35

@FetchezLaVache hahaha, yep same here

lhw92 · 26/03/2019 13:37

Same here
Good luck with the interview, OP!

Pavlova31 · 26/03/2019 16:17

Best wishes for the interview OP 🤞

Science9 · 26/03/2019 22:59

Thanks everyone! The shits have gone away and I have calmed slightly, probably just accepted my fate now. Looking forward to it being over tomorrow!

With some regularity, especially when I was an anxious teen. Then I would stress out about stressing out and it became a vicious circle.

You have my sympathy op! It's just an unfortunate leftover evolutionary quirk but it's a decidedly unpleasant one.

BillywigSting · 26/03/2019 23:03

Also, there is a reason why the term 'shit scared' exists

SomethingOnce · 26/03/2019 23:24

Best of luck, OP!

claret3189 · 26/03/2019 23:31

Yes me too. Good luck let us know how you do

Loyaultemelie · 27/03/2019 10:12

As someone with bad ibs you have my sympathy! Good luck today

Okay the interview is over - i felt like I was drunk with nerves for the entire 40 minutes and rambled on to the point I could see the interviewers eyes glazing over Confused

I think it's safe to say I have not been successful but I will hear back next week. Thank you for your replies - no one knows I had the interview apart from DH so it was so nice having some good luck messages to spur me on Smile

Well done for getting through it OP! Even if you don't get the job, the more you do them, the less nervous/anxious about it you will become. Good luck!

As for running faster from fight/flight... I poop so much when I'm nervous I don't think I'd be able to run for very long without stopping to squat, but on the bright side that might deter a predator from wanting to eat me I guess. Grin

Somehow I passed the interview and got the job Shock still in disbelief! Thanks again for the lovely good luck messages beforehand, really gave me a boost. Grin
