I'm in Mexico on my second day of holiday and the dreaded travellers diarrhea has struck.

Please help - what do I do?

Tell DH to go now. Believe me, they’ll be used to it. Get well soon!

I usually take Pepto Bismol which is thought to kill some bacteria

Pepto-Bismol is thought to treat diarrhea by:

"increasing the amount of fluid your intestines absorb
reducing inflammation and overactivity of your intestines
preventing your body’s release of a chemical called prostaglandin that causes inflammation
blocking toxins produced by bacteria such as E. coli
killing other bacteria that cause diarrhea
The active ingredient, bismuth subsalicylate, also has antacid properties that can help to decrease heartburn, upset stomach, and nausea."

I also prefer supermarket own brand upset stomach pills as not as drastic as iimodium ,kaolin and calcium carbonate .

I thought most travellers d&v was due to e.coli not parasites. So abx could help.

The NHS is not keen on the use of antibiotics for most cases of travellers diarrhoea. E Coli does cause a lot of cases but so does norpvirus and giardia protozoa. Giardiasis is particularly nasty but it is unlikely the OP has that on day 2 of her holiday. I have seen a whole holiday village knocked down by cryptosporidium protozoa too. I was one of the few that it missed.
