Frozen (but not Elsa)

I have a weird thing where when I get really cold I find it really hard to warm up. As an example if I’ve walked home at night in the cold I have to go to bed in full pyjamas and a fleecy dressing gown - and often I still shiver for hours! Today I got a bit chilly in the garden and hours later I’m still freezing yet my house is 21 degrees.

If I don’t get cold in the first place I don’t have an issue with being too cold.

Anyone any ideas, it’s weird and annoying!!

Get your thyroid checked!

Chocolateisfab · 25/03/2019 20:32

Just let it go....

I've got a lot more susceptible to being cold in the last couple of years. Get a hat! It triples your rate of warming up, and is far more effective than a dressing gown in bed.

Kim82 · 25/03/2019 20:38

I get like this, it’s like being cold to the bone. I usually sit in a boiling hot bath until I warm up or else, like you, I would sit shivering all night. The bath works every time.

EspressoPatronum · 25/03/2019 20:40

I was just about to suggest a nice hot bath kim82 ! Always my go to when I'm chilled to the bone

MayFayner · 25/03/2019 20:41

A bit like pp, we call this getting the cold into your bones.

It’s miserable. I have to sit by the fire or a heater when it happens to me. I have to warm up before bed otherwise I will be cold in bed, no matter how much I have on. Food helps too.

implantsandaDyson · 25/03/2019 20:45

I always have a shower when I can't get heat into me.

Mokepon · 25/03/2019 20:45

Yes, but for me it usually happens if I'm due a period/run down/incubating some lurgy.
Always do hot water bottle or toasty bath.

Shiverrrrmetimbers · 25/03/2019 21:02

@mokepon period due tomorrow!

Yes! You’re all right - chilled to the bones. And my skin is really cold and just won’t warm up

Had thyroid checked a few months ago as feeling run down and it was fine

Aha!!
How weird. It must be a thing.

SneakyGremlins · 25/03/2019 21:04

Hot toastie!

Shiverrrrmetimbers · 25/03/2019 21:15

@kim82 I’ve been known to take a hairdryer to myself to warm up!

Dressing gown or fleece with the hood up and tea helps me, sometimes in bed.

itsboiledeggsagain · 25/03/2019 21:23

Hot water bottle solves this for me. Or a hot bath

Shiverrrrmetimbers · 25/03/2019 21:43

I’ve just taken a very hot shower and feel much better. Now just sitting here in my pants perfectly warm!
