When is a good time for a second baby?

I have a 3 year old DS. I'm only just coming round to the idea of a second one - a small gap was 100% not for us at all, I couldn't have coped.

I'm now wondering if it's better to have another one before or after he starts school, which will be September 2020. I worry if he starts school and has a sibling all at once it might be a lot of change for him, especially as we'd likely be moving house around the same point. OTOH it would be nice for me to have time alone with a new baby while he's at school.

I'm 28 so I have time on my side but obviously don't take anything for granted re: getting pregnant, a healthy pregnancy etc.

I always say that there's no such thing as a good age gap! It all depends on personality.
I'd say it would be easier to not have to get a kid to school for 8 45 am when I'd been up all night with a newborn.

Depends what's right for you, I was like you and not ready until 3/4 years. Dc2 was born in the week that Dc1 started reception. It was perfect for us, I had the maternity leave to do the school run and if it was a bad night I'd head back to bed afterwards. I had time with the baby whilst DC was at school.

The age gap with our children is 4 years 4 months. This works for us. We started trying when our oldest was 3. I liked being on maternity leave for reception year and settling DD into school.
