All the Premier Inns are fully booked and there seems to be a lack of cheap hotels available? Have I picked a bad evening? not as it could have been any other day due to the kids commitments.

Parklife?

Comefromaway · 24/03/2019 23:48

Is that a concert? We are going to the theatre?

Looks like I’ll be driving there and back rather than the train & stopping over.

It’s parklife festival that weekend and Muse are playing at the Etihad stadium as well. It’s going to be hammered that weekend, I’d book further out along the tram route if I were you.

We may as well drive back rather than stay further out. It’s only 45 mins home.

As others have said, it's Parklife festival. We're going to see Muse, and I couldn't understand why all the hotels are so ridiculously expensive until I googled it a week ago and found out.

Comefromaway · 25/03/2019 09:53

Oh well, Hasa Diga Eebowi as they say.

I couldn't book for any other weekend as ds has a youth theatre show and dd has her end of term college show.

Just updating this as we went to see Muse at the Etihad last night. Went to collect the car in the city centr afterwards and was in shock at the gridlock. Saw LOADS of people in Wellies having been to Parklife all day too. Gridlock at midnight Manchester City Centre. Fun times! Grin

Not heard of the tram at the Etihad? A lesson for next time you go.

Scion123 · 10/06/2019 08:25

We got trapped in the city centre gridlock a few weeks back after the spice girls concert. A 90minute journey took 4 hours!! Never known it like that before.

CurlyhairedAssassin · 10/06/2019 20:07

ForAllTheSaints: we didn’t need the tram as we happily walked from the stadium to the city centre. It was driving from the city centre back to Liverpool that was the issue.

Sad thing is, Liverpool is going like Manchester with the overexpanding. High rises going up all over the place.
