Shoulder pain after bike ride?

I'm actually sweating slightly from this pain! DH and I have been doing some bike rides here and there, we've got a really nice route which is a 19 mile round trip with a couple of good hills in it.

I've completed the 19 mile circuit 4 times in the last few weeks, and today I didn't feel that tired in my legs my knickers chafed my foof to shreds - but I noticed that my shoulders were aching.

I've now been off the bike for 4 hours, and I still have an awful grinding ache in the tip of each shoulder joint, running along my collar bone to my neck - just now even my forearms and knuckles were aching. It's quite a sickening pain and I can't find a comfortable position.

What the hell is it, I've never had it before? I have a riser on my handlebars, just to keep neck tension to a minimum (chronic migraine). Am I going to be virtually immobile in the morning, I have a 3 hour drive to a meeting?

Ouch, sounds painful. Just to make sure, you have none of these other symptoms, do you?
Uncomfortable pressure, squeezing, fullness or pain in the center of your chest. It lasts more than a few minutes, or goes away and comes back.
Pain or discomfort in one or both arms, the back, neck, jaw or stomach.
Shortness of breath with or without chest discomfort.
Other signs such as breaking out in a cold sweat, nausea or lightheadedness.
As with men, women’s most common heart attack symptom is chest pain or discomfort. But women are somewhat more likely than men to experience some of the other common symptoms, particularly shortness of breath, nausea/vomiting and back or jaw pain.

were you dressed warmly enough? could be tension as it felt warmer than it really was the last couple of days.

to ease pain now: magnesium supplement, ibuprofen and warmth (hot water bottle)

Jeez, holding my stupid phone is giving me such terrible pain from shoulders to hands, never felt anything like it. Confused

No MrsGface, none of those thankfully!

Thanks GreenElephant, I was only wearing a t-shirt because it was 14 degrees, but the air was quite cold (and we are on the coast).

Not the same, but I get these symptoms when I grip my motorcycle throttle and bar too tight. Were you tense? Sometimes I have to do relaxation breathing.

That's interesting nrpmum, I have a motorcycle too and I get hand and wrist pain from holding too tight where I'm tense - have to consciously bend my arms. So I suppose it could've been, but I've not felt it from a pushbike ride before now.

I'm laying down in bed now and the pain is incredibly intense Sad
