Boring thread alert - charger cable help needed

I have an iPhone SE and I've been ordering the following from Amazon as they're a damn sight better than any other charger cable I've ever used, sturdy safe & charge fairly quickly

https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B074FQZPKK/ref=yaawwohbiaadp?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I've just had the last of the ones I ordered last July die and I'm now using the ones I ordered in Nov (when I start a new pack I order another so I'm not caught out)

Unfortunately as you can see they're not currently available and I'm having trouble finding cables that genuinely seem to be very similar in design.

Would prefer to order from Amazon but if anyone knows if they're available from another online reliable retailer that can be delivered to my home I'd consider that too. Except eBay as I can't use eBay (long story)

So wise mners can you help?

You're having to replace the cable almost monthly and you keep buying them Confused.

The only time I've ever had to replace a charging cable of that type is when my kitten has chewed through them, otherwise the one that comes with the item outlasts it without fail.

Maybe they've taken them off sale because they keep failing?

BarbaraofSevillle · 24/03/2019 19:09

But when I click on your link, I also get this item on the same page which appears to be the same and is available.

But I still wouldn't be buying cables which had proved to barely last a month each time.

wowfudge · 24/03/2019 19:10

They have an 18 month warranty. Have you contacted the seller?

Graphista · 24/03/2019 19:32

Where are you getting monthly?! From the length there's one in the pack I don't use as its tiny/very short, so 2 were used, this is the pack I bought last July - 8 months ago! So they're lasting an average of 4 months! I've just yesterday started using from the pack I ordered in November and expect them to last just as well but I like to be prepared.

When I used to use either original Apple ones or cheap ones from high street THEY wouldn't even last a month!

I can't see a way to contact seller (no longer operating?)

And the link from gookledy isn't working for me I'm afraid

Sorry, I miscalculated, I thiought you had used 6 in 8 months, so just over a month a cable.

But still, I don't understand what you are doing to you charging cables for them to break so quickly.

As I said before, I've never had one break on me, or DP for that matter, and we have 2 phones, 2 tablets, 2 kindles and all sorts of cameras and GPS sporty things that require USB cables and we have never had one break in about 10 years of having such equipment, except when one of the kittens used to chew through them, and thankfully he seems to have grown out of that now.

FreeButtonBee · 24/03/2019 19:48

I have a few syncwire ones which have a metalised woven cover on them. Seem to be doing v well so far (and my children like to bloody chew them, never mjnd the pets!) only got them in Jan so not super long term but they feel quality IYKWIM

FreeButtonBee · 24/03/2019 19:50

Oh and before that I’ve had cheap ones as well as Apple ones break - nearly always at the join where the charger bit joins the cable at the iPhone end / they seem to bend then break through the plastic

BringOnTheScience · 24/03/2019 20:15

I've never replaced a charger cable. Not ever. Ever! We have multiple chargers in every room as every new device has another charger to add to the collection.

What on Earth are you doing to them?!!!

ohmydaysagain · 24/03/2019 21:11

I buy the amazon basics chargers they usually last a couple of years. The apple chargers are shit

FreeButtonBee · 24/03/2019 21:30

I don’t know! I think it’s because I use my phone/device while charging which puts more pressure on them.

Graphista · 25/03/2019 09:01

I don't know anyone that's never had to replace their charger cables, everyone I know goes through them at a rate of knots!

Amazon basics? Do you have a link?

I have had my Apple lightning cables for years. Didn’t enter my head they needed changing!

Fluffyears · 25/03/2019 09:15

I had to change one as it stopped working but that’s it. I use my phone whilst it’s charging etc but have only ever needed 1 new cable. They gave me a two metre cable which is fantastic.

PigletJohn · 25/03/2019 09:40

Get some longer ones.

If you are using the device while charging you are probably tugging and bending the connector

Buy genuine ones from the maker.

AmazonBasics Apple Certified Nylon Braided Lightning to USB Cable - 1.8 m (6 ft) - Dark Grey https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B01F9RH0R4/ref=cmswwrcppapiii_s8uMCbWNE888J

ohmydaysagain · 25/03/2019 22:00

@Graphista hope the link works haven't got a clue what I'm doing on my phone 😂

Ginkythefangedhellpigofdoom · 25/03/2019 22:08

I had all sorts of problems with charging cables from expensive to cheap ones until my Dp brought home an amazon basics one, it's been used daily for at least 6-8 month and is still going fine.

I am thinking of getting another one but only to keep in drawer incase this ever gives up.

The only issue Iv got with it is it is pink but as it was free I won't complain too much about that!
