Sickness and incubation period

If incubation period is (example) 12-48 hours, does this mean 12-48 hours from the first person going down with it?

So if I got ill this time Friday, if anyone else was going to get ill, they would have by now?

I know it's not an exact science and I appreciate all bugs are different, I'm just asking how incubation period is counted.

It's counted from the first contact with the ill person.

We had noro before Christmas and it was 48 hours like clockwork. DS Monday night, me Wednesday night, DH and DD Friday night.

Oh man..... I'm so worried we're all going to end up with it.

I'm an emetophobe so it's my absolute worst nightmare. It was actually 4yo and midnight tonight marks the 48h period (sorry I used an example in my first post and not the real info Blush)

We've had plenty of bugs that not everyone has caught. In fact most of them seem to hit just one of the kids? DP never gets them and I only caught one, which was oddly when one of the kids just puked once and then seemed a bit off colour. I ended up with full on sickness bug 3 days later?

Bugs are contagious for around 48 hours after last episode...and can take up to 48 hours to materialize. So 4 days from last episode and you should be safe.

It's normally 2-3 days apart though.

I'm an emetophobe too and it helps me to assume I'm going to get it and it's a bonus if I don't (helps me prepare) Thanks

Oh god this is me right now. Ds has norovirus and the slightest tummy twinge is making me panic. Sad

Crunchymum · 24/03/2019 20:50

And now the diarrhoea has started. 24h after last puke and almost 48h since it all began. Great.

Well I have my answer as the baby now has it. So incubation period was 4 days Shock

I've been in bed all day. Sad it's bloody awful knowing you can't avoid it. The first tummy gripes and your heart just sinks.

Timing is dreadful too, work-wise

Thanks
