Have you ever had access to the property you are buying to do work prior to completion? The house needs work done under the floor boards and carpet needs laying but we have a baby and no where to live while the work is done.

The house is empty and we need to get out of our house the day of completion but I'm wondering if work can be done between exchange and completion.

It's not impossible, but you need permission from your vendor and their solicitor, also your solicitor needs to be involved too - there is a legal document which can be drawn up (the name escapes me for the moment).

I believe it's called a key undertaking, SimonitesSocks.

Thanks, algo!
