Am I going to have to retire from polite society due to, um, nostril hair?

I've made a terrible mistake and looked closely at my nose (well, I was intending to look at my whole face but got waylaid) in:

A) a magnifying mirror

and

B) broad daylight

I could cry. In fact, I have cried. Nostril hair. What do I do?!

I think we all have nostril hair OP! Currently nursing an ingrown nostril hair so have been shining a torch up my nostril only today.

No need to retire from polite society Grin

Leave it.

I did as you did once and took nail scissors and tweezers to remove every hair after peering up my nose in a magnifying mirror.

I then stupidly realised what a bad idea that was when my hayfever became horrendous due to pollen not being trapped by the hairs that I had gotten rid of!

Namechanger4dis · 23/03/2019 22:06

Everyone has nostril hair. If it’s bothering you get a shaver with nostril attachment.

Nowaypast · 23/03/2019 22:06

An ingrown nostril hair?

Omg Palominoo you are a braver woman than I'll ever be - that must have fucking hurt.

Get a nostril trimmer- cheap on amazon or I got the vest sensitive precision trimmer and that does the job perfectly!

Nowaypast · 23/03/2019 22:10

I didn't know you could get a shaver with a nostril attachment. I've hitherto been happily going about my business not realising what was sticking out of my nose :(.

I wonder if there could be a correlation between using eyelash enhancer and longer nasal hair? I'm possibly overthinking this ...

I used to shave my legs and armpits, pluck my eyebrows and not give a thought to anything else.

Now I’m mid 40’s and it’s all gone to shit. My leg and underarm hair hardly grows but the sodding stuff is sprouting from my nose, upper lip, moles and I even have two random nipple hairs.

It’s not okay 😕

Nowaypast · 23/03/2019 22:25

It's not Alabaster, you're right

I read on here once that plucking your nostril hairs can cause a brain infection Shock I don’t know how true that is, but it’s certainly put me off.

I plucked mine once years ago and can confirm it’s eyewateringly painful.

DisgraceToTheYChromosome · 23/03/2019 23:42

Tommee Tippee baby nail scissors with the rounded ends. As a middle-aged male, all my hair is now growing in the wrong direction.

StillMedusa · 23/03/2019 23:48

Tweezers and a magnifying mirror..and brace yourself for the eye watering pain Grin
I have a deviated septum (and a terrible nose!) and sprout from one side. I've plucked them for years..no brain infection yet!

And yes... middle age.. random hairs just bloody appear overnight!

IHaveBrilloHair · 23/03/2019 23:51

JML beauty trimmer.
That's all.

GiantKitten · 24/03/2019 00:23

I’ve got one of these - £4.50 from eBay, was even less direct from ASDA but can’t find it on their website now.

Anyway dead easy to use, does a great job, & the buzz changes tone slightly when it’s actually chopping something which I find deeply satisfying Grin

SurgeHopper · 24/03/2019 00:26

Same.

Dh is on the Amazon now, we're gonna share one.

IHaveBrilloHair · 24/03/2019 00:26

Yes Giant.
Mine is the same.

Actually it's true about the brain infection thing but I imagine it's rare. The area of the nose down to the lips is know as the triangle of death. The blood vessels tgere are close to the blood system leading to the brain. Hence I'm being really careful with the ingrown hair thing in my nose - bathing it with warm salty water.
