Marking as I’ve got abiut three bottles left over from Christmas. Obviously don’t like it as much as I thought. Hmm

Jellyfloodagain · 23/03/2019 21:34

Bailey's doesn't go in the fridge does it?

Expressedways · 23/03/2019 21:39

You don’t need to refrigerate except if your prefer the taste chilled. It lasts 2 years from when it was made, open or unopened, refrigerated or not; there’s a code on the bottle that give a month and a year e.g. Code032020 would mean it expires in March 2020.

Wellhellojonsnow · 23/03/2019 21:54

I had some that was 6 years out of date (recently found in the back of a kitchen cupboard)!! I tried it and it was drinkable!

MyOtherProfile · 23/03/2019 21:55

I thought it never goes off!

BarbaraofSevillle · 23/03/2019 21:55

I've also had an open bottle for many years in the fridge and it's fine. Just pour some out. If it looks OK, taste it. If it tastes OK, it is OK.

Expressedways · 23/03/2019 22:02

Oh of it lasted that long, I’d definitely still drink it if it looked and smelt ok My comment was based on when I googled it for DH as he was worried I was trying to poison him with a Baileys Hot Chocolate! I would never waste good Baileys.

RuskBaby · 23/03/2019 22:05

It does go off eventually, we had some at PIL’s that had curdled (circa 9years old and opened) but none in our house has ever lasted that long.

MiddleClassProblem · 23/03/2019 22:06

Why is it in the fridge?

Southernc0mfortmirror · 23/03/2019 22:08

I’ve just drank some baileys that allegedly went out of date in May 2018 - tastes fine

DrinkSangriaInThePark · 23/03/2019 22:08

All Irish households have an obligatory opened bottle of Bailey's, in a cupboard, (or as we call them a 'press') for at least a year or two. Never killed anyone,b even the 87 year old grannies who love a bit at Christmas Grin

DrMadelineMaxwell · 23/03/2019 22:41

It's nicer straight out of the fridge.

bibbitybobbityyhat · 24/03/2019 10:05

I had a glass and I'm still here! It had only been in the fridge since Christmas, but I've poured away too many bottles that have been kept out of the fridge. I only fancy it very occasionally.

I had an open bottle in the fridge about 10 months and when I poured it it was curdled

DrinkSangriaInThePark · 24/03/2019 15:12

I think it curdles more when kept in the fridge. It separates. Keep it in a cupboard and shake it before you drink it. It won't make you sick, the alcohol and sugar preserves it for years.

Horehound · 24/03/2019 15:14

It has alcohol In it. Years and years!

BaronessBomburst · 24/03/2019 15:15

I had an Aldi knock-off, which definitely tasted a bit odd after two years. Bailey's itself, I couldn't say as it always gets drunk!

IncrediblySadToo · 24/03/2019 15:19

It doesn’t need to go in the fridge and will out live you. No need, at all, to throw it out.

amusedbush · 24/03/2019 15:25

Why is it in the fridge?

It’s much nicer from the fridge.

DrinkSangriaInThePark · 24/03/2019 15:31

The Irish way is room temperature, with ice.
