It's code for misogyny and racism.

elQuintoConyo · 22/03/2019 21:44

In my mind it shows you value tradition when tradition itself is valueless.

Makes more sense in my head...!

It tends to conjure up a stereotypical lifestyle from the 1960's - mum, dad (married before living together) 2.4 kids, possibly religious, certainly demanding their kids are respectful and well behaved.

Interesting. I suppose for me it means respect for others opinions and beliefs, empathy, understanding, compassion and support. Looking out for those vulnerable or in need, being kind where I can, listening to those with more experience. Community spirit.

Interesting replies thank you , it’s was said by someone on celebs go dating ( not a celeb ) age wise early 20’s, my 18 son said it was a red flag meaning they were racist and homophobic , I’m older and thought it related more to relationship and family values , good to get different views

Using please and thank you. Respecting people's personal space (not popular where I live!) Going out of your way to help your neighbour.

CordeliaEarhart · 22/03/2019 22:11

I think it has become a euphemism for racist/sexist/homophobic so would be a red flag for me. I see it as "values which are no longer mainstream but used to be very ordinary." The others listed (e.g. manners, respect) I just see as normal values so wouldn't think they needed the qualifier of "traditional".

I would assume it to mean..
They don't have sex on a first date 😂.
Wait until date 3, at least!
