Ryanair luggage allowance

I've added priority boarding and cabin bag to our Ryanair booking. Do you know if I have the option of checking the bag in or do we need to take it with us?

Unless you paid for checked luggage you have to take it onboard.

We were only allowed to check a cabin bag in when we had paid for a 20kg suitcase to be checked in as well - so they took both off us.

Cabin bag is cabin luggage. You’ll need to pay extra to put it in the hold.

We've just booked a RyanAir flight with priority boarding and my understanding is that the cabin bag can be slightly bigger than if you don't have priority boarding, but it is still a cabin bag to go in the cabin.

No, checking in a cabin bag isn't an option.

LaFamilleMarsaud check the cabin bag sizes, don't risk taking a bag outside the dimensions. With Priority and 2 Cabin Bags you get a 'wheely' type case that must be able to fit in the overhead lockers and a handbag/small bag that must be able to fit under the seat in front of you. Both bags have size limits and Ryanair are well known for sticking rigidly to those dimensions.

OP, I've been offered to put one of my cabin bags in the hold even when using priority if I have a bag to check in to the hold, but it varies from airport to airport! I have never been asked if I haven't had a bag to put in the hold.

Nothing to do with the airport. It's usually when flights are full the airlines try to get people to put the cabin bag into the hold. It's not an option for OP though, it only happens if the airline offer, not the other way round.

Dramatical I've only ever been asked at one UK airport but frequently asked in European airports and flights haven't always been full the times I've been asked/offered. You are right that it is up to them to offer, if you ask Ryanair they will charge you.

It's not the airport staffs call, it's the airline. Regardless of where you have been asked.

Thanks all. I've also had cabin bags taken in the hold before but that usually happens at the gate, which is too late for me, I wanted to take a few bottles of sauce you can only buy here for a friend ☺
