Where to eat out in London

DH and I are off to London for the people's vote march and as it is a long journey we decided to get a hotel and make a weekend break of it.

So I am looking for recommendations for somewhere nice to eat on Saturday. Ideally somewhere that we wouldn't be able to visit at home but not too pricey. Staying quite close to Leicester Square, and we like most food but Italian is a particular favourite.

Hit me with some awesome recommendations 😁

Thanks x

Ok, if you can get there early and don’t mind waiting Padella in Borough Market is AMAZING pasta. Or polpo (which is a really nice chain) you can find them all over London. Delicious Italian “small plates”. Enjoy!

Oh god definitely dishoom for breakfast. It's very popular so book in advance as they were turning walk ins away when we were there. Honestly the nicest breakfast I have ever had! I had the bacon and egg naan roll with a side of masala beans. It's making my mouth water thinking about it!!

I like the old style Italian restaurants in Soho. We often go to cafe Melanie on Old Compton Street. They aren't posh, but serve tasty traditional Italian food. Many are still run by the families who opened them in the sixties. We go earlyish and have never had to book.

We are marching tomorrow too, but need to get home for a pub quiz so will 'enjoy' a Cornish Pasty at Liverpool Street I guess 🙁

Thanks some great recommendations there! Will look them up and see about booking something.

These places aren't likely to be too smart on a Saturday are they? Will DH be ok in dark jeans and a polo shirt? We're trying to pack light.

Also thanks for the breakfast suggestion, we don't get breakfast at the hotel so will need to get something out before we head to a museum or gallery

Cicchetti, there is one on Piccadilly & one in Covent Garden so both easy walking distance from Leicester Square www.sancarlocicchetti.co.uk/menu/

Just want to drop in a shout out for my two favorite Italians in London: Ciao Bella in Bloomsbury and Osteria Ambrosia just off Bond St. Both are relaxed and reasonably priced, of the two Ciao Bella has the more interesting menu (and the house white is cheap and fairly nice!).

Thanks for the recommendations we ended up in Melanie which was lovely and reasonably priced for central london.
