What to spend bonus on?

Usually I’m completely irresponsible and spend my bonus before I’ve even had it, but by some absolute miracle that hasn’t happened this year. So it gets paid on Monday and I have about £12k to play with.

I’ll put some of it in savings but could spend a bit on something nice. Not just anything obviously - not looking to spend it for the sake of it.

Any ideas?

Maybe a Dyson airwrap. Or a mulberry.

Hmm, I'm not too bothered about particularly expensive handbags, but prob a couple of pairs of decent shoes (although you prob have those already!) I would buy some very decent key wardrobe pieces - as my weight & size seem to fluctuate, I'd buy decent wrap dresses, underwear, coats, jeans etc in a few sizes(!).

I'd maybe pay for a PT to push me to try to get fitter!!

If I was looking to change my job, I'd need to buy myself a car so that would be a good use of funds.

Ooh I also want to sort my garden & build a side extension (but you said you didn't have it spoken for)

I'd prob pay for a nice break for family, my DM, DSis & family; savings & pension if nothing else I can think of!!

He's cute _ get frogs op

lotusbell · 21/03/2019 20:46

Ok, now I want a bonus to be able to buy me a frog!!

NeverHadANickname · 21/03/2019 20:49

😂 I feel like the frogs are winning (sorry for detracting from other useful responses, mine was absolutely genuine)

ShirleyPhallus · 21/03/2019 20:56

Oh god those frogs are gorgeous!!!

The airwrap is amazing. And a "cost per use" focus makes it reasonable.

I've a similar bonus this year which Will be paying to fix my bumpy driveway. #partay

Could you be tempted to help out an impoverished fellow MNer? Grin

BlameItOnBianca · 22/03/2019 07:19

I am coveting this if when I get my bonus!

BlueSkiesLies · 22/03/2019 09:54

Kinda s tupid asking for ‘something’ to spend it on. If there isn’t anything you really want or need, why not just wait and get something when you do?

Kpo58 · 22/03/2019 10:07

I'd save it and any other bonuses that you get for a house deposit.

SoyDora · 22/03/2019 10:18

Did the OP say she doesn’t own a house?

Kpo58 · 22/03/2019 10:37

She didn't say either way

I did say in to OP I wasn’t looking at just spending it for the sake of it. But I like the ideas that other people have given - demellier bags (which id never heard of) etc. Nice to have a treat every now and again!

I do already own a house @kpo58

If I had the opportunity to treat myself I would book a lovely weekend near my granddaughter. If it was something to buy I think some nice boots and a pair of earrings. The rest of me would then need smartening up but I don't care.

DisgraceToTheYChromosome · 22/03/2019 11:33

Really good single malt for 90% of it as an investment, and some slightly cheaper single malt for actually drinking. I made 40% in 3 years on a 25 year old Macallan a while back, while enjoying its 10yo younger brother.

Kpo58 · 22/03/2019 12:12

If you are young, it might be worth putting into a pension.

burnoutbabe · 22/03/2019 12:44

Straight into pension to avoid tax and ni. Maybe too late for you if paid Monday to do it via salary sacrifice but could make net payment into pension next week
